I have read what you are saying is true, traditional cooling, parallel flow, but why do cylinders 7 & 8 run hot?

Is that an urban legend or is there some real data on it?

Only reason I could think of is that they have no moving air at that end of the engine, especially around the cylinder case area.

Must be an urban legend. I ended up switching position of the senders and the Autometer unit still reads 190F, maybe 2 degrees more. I need something to read the computer so I can verify data instead of guessing at everything from infrared thermometers. I did test the thermostat this weekend and it is definitely a 187F stock unit.
