Default My 454 LSX NA build, now with E85/~14:1

Well I thought id make a new build thread, as its been a year and a half, and there have been several changes.

It is a 454ci shortblock 4.185 x 4.125 in an LSX block, built by HKE.

The shortblock was designed for ~11.1 compression.

It has ragin racings STRIKER cam 244/256 ~.670 lift 110LSA

Untouched LS7 Heads (As of now)

Morel Link Bar lifters, PRC EHT .675 springs, stock LS7 rockers(looking to rebuild)

For intake I have a stock LS7 intake, FAST 92mm TB, FTP104 Lid, (I still need to get a MAF)

I should be getting my motor in a month or so... (waiting in line to get the topend assembled) <--- HAHA, I was so naive.

Anyway, now im thinking about switching to E85 and getting the heads milled for increased compression... Get closer to 700RWHP..

For the increased fuel/power, id have to get some 80# injectors, new fuel feed, regulator, 2nd walbro, new clutch, and prayer for my trans/10bolt....

Anyway, shouldnt be long now.

Yea. Thats what got me thinking... I saw that last night. I gotta see how much compression I can get out of milling my heads...

Yea. The 10 bolt is just temporary, itll get replaced after winter. Ill only be running a 295 street tire for now... so it should be okay.

lol. yea. this is the kinda build that made me poor. lol.

I decided it was a waste to have a forged motor with 600whp, and i dont wanna do boost or juice... so hi comp E85 is an option. get me closer to 700

How much abuse did the 10 bolt take before now?

Yea, i was really impressed by the LS7 flow numbers.

As far as the 10 bolt... I went from a completely stock, never tracked LS1... to this beast you see above

Needs a camshaft with more duration, or wider LSA

That cam works for a 427 with 11:1, yep.

Now you have 454, with 14:1, I think it will peak early.

Just in my own humble opinion.

I have a couple questions...

If im gonna go E85/hi-comp im gonna need to re-do my fuel system.

Edit: No worries, between MMs write-up and dozens of other threads I have a plan for a fuel system.

Looks like the new fuel system will cost me ~$800.... plus injectors

Don't worry about the driveablilty if you go with a bigger cam, the CI's will eat the cam up. I was running a 254/256 with my old 454 setup, and it seemed like a baby cam.

No problem man, build looks like its coming along nicely!

One of my good friends is trying the high compression E85 setup within the next couple weeks, itll be a stock bottom end LS7 with WCCH ported LS7's, 13.5, fast 102, and custom cam. Ill be happy to let you know what the results are, I think you are definitely headed in the right direction!
