Morel Link bar 5206 lifter Preload on IRON BLOCK??? Help ASAP!!! Ordering today!
I know this question has been asked a million times but i don't see very much info on preload for the iron block with aluminum heads. I HAVE A 364CI LQ9. I've seen that guys have been running anywhere from .050" to .090" preload with aluminum blocks and the Morel 5206 link bar lifters.. I have also read that Erik Koenig suggests .060" with aluminum. What is ideal for iron? I've read that the instructions say .030" or .035" for iron and .050" for aluminum but guys are going beyond that .050" for aluminum so should i go beyond .035" for iron??? Trying to order pushrods today if i can find my answer.
Thanks,
Dee

Erik runs more pre-load than the others as he doesnt leave anything to chance and can do it successfully. He checks install heights and measures pushrods correctly and knows how to read specs so when he sets a valve train up its done correct.
I cant say what you should run, I'm not him. I'lll ask though and post when I get an answer

Thanks. I've found the correct shims for my yella terras and have my wipe patern spot on on. I've also found the correct pushrod length and zero lash using the compcam pushrod length checker. I can't order my pushrods until i can add preload to the overall length. I have checked both heads and they both measure the same on the intake and exhaust side. Preload is literally the only thing keeping me from ordering my push rods!!!
