Default Cam & lifter change with afm delete?

With the afm delete kits is a cam & lifter changer required? or can i use the new lifter valley cover parts and leave oem cam & lifters with out any problems? This is a 2008 5.3 from a silverado

All of it goes. The dod/afm cam and lifters as well as valley cover are all different and MUST be changed

Ok, Thank you. Any suggestions on a particular kit? What cam choices would be compatible to keep the efi? Im not looking for crazy HP, i wasnt even goin to do a cam swap right now, but if its required i will. This is basically gonna be a street cruiser and occasional long run, in a 70 Nova,

I guess i should ask this, after the afm delete is this 5.3 as good as any other 5.3? As in older versions?

You can gather a few used parts around here as well in the classifieds like the valley cover and front timing cover. You'll need an Ls2/3 valley cover, lifters, lifter trays, springs, a 3 bolt cam, 3 bolt timing set, Ls2/3 front timing cover. All which aren't expensive but I pieced one together cheaper than a kit for my brothers L99. I went with vendors that offer free shipping on orders over 100 and I googled the part numbers. It shouldn't be much for what your wanting outta the 5.3 IMHO.

If youre wanting a cam you may look into the 224R for a smaller cam, or even a gm hot cam

Just keep in mind with a cam youre gonna want to change springs and pushrods also. Cam kits are generally $750. All in all, exect about 1300 for a total dod/afm delete and cam swap
