Default LY6 / L92 Build Setup - Post your setup and HP here!

HI,

To make a short long story , I always running and install carb engine in my car. I have a 74 nova SS, 4.33 Rear Gear. A friend of mine want to sold me a brand news (completly reworked) 4L60E transmissin (with a manual valve body in it) and a 4000rpm lockup TCI stall converter for 1000$. My cousin sold me a complete LY6 engine. I was looking around...and It's seem to be a great engine (with the cathedral port cylinder ls3 head). The setup have around 20K miles.

I really dont know what to do...stay with the injection of putting an intake with a carb. Dont want to put 5000$ on this setup... This car will be a full street car...but I want to have a street beast (around 525hp) If it's possible to not fly-cutting the piston or have to open the block, it will be appreciate. Are you able to help me building this setup ? Whant to have a nasty cam...with the 4000rpm stall and the big gear. I planned to put at least a 1 3/4 headers or 1 7/8 if I need to....I dont have anything except trans, stall and engine. Want to put AC on my pro-touring next setup.

If you are able to provide me some good input for max power (or torque) camshaft, what I need...and your recommendation (carbed or full injection)

Thanks for your help again.

Stephane

LS3 heads are rectangular. If milage is a concern, keep OEM EFI.

Ok..my mistake It's L92 cylinder head. I put allot of money in that car; paint answome....etc....The original EFI is really tall and ugly...... I really want to make around 18-20 mpg/gallon if it's possible....... or little bit more if it's possible...

It will be better 10 times than my current carb setup. I have (with my small block chevy gen 1) around 625hp...dont want to have 350hp.....too big difference..and I want to have a fast car..with anwsome sound....good acceleration.....really streetable......(want to have a little monster under the hood). That's why I want to go with LS engine.

Thanks for your help. I'm really new in the LS world.

Your input will be really appreciate!

also my car made 443rwhp and 408tq so id say it close to 500hp at the crank and thats just with a fast 92 throttle body ls3 intake and cam and i see these ls motors make more than that so id say you can get close to what you want hp wise

This is the route I went with the L92 in my 1965 Buick Skylark. I went with the 6L80 six speed transmission to get the best of both worlds with speed and mileage. Hopefully I will have a 10.99 car and around 25mpg. Gears in the rear are 3.23 and 26" tall tires.

Should have around 475rwhp. I am basing these numbers on the dyno results of modified 2010+ L99 Camaro's which my motor/trans is virtually the same. Here are the engine mods and exhaust setup.

1. PRC ported heads
2. TSP VVT-3 camshaft. 231/239 @ .050".
3. LS3 ported throttle body.
4. LS3 intake manifold
5. Custom 4" cold air intake with a LS3 card style MAF.
6. Hedman Hustler headers. 1 3/4" stepped to 1 7/8". 3" merge style collector.
7. Pypes 3" X-pipe.
8. Dynomax 3" mufflers.
9. Yank SS3200 converter.
