Default LS SWAP / 5.3 or 6.0 (LQ or L33 or LM)

Hey all, newbe doing a swap into my 69 Skylark. Buick forums hate me but who cares.. I know whats good.

So I am doing a swap and in the purshase phase for my motor tranny.

Options are toooo many. So.. LQ9 / LQ4 / LM7 / L33? I am leaning towards L33 but would like some input. I'm basically looking to get 400-450HP and a daily driver. I am most likey going with the 4L80E tranny.

Your thought please... the floor is open.

Thanks
Mike (NYC)

I say lq9. It will take minimal parts to reach your power goal.

Here is a stock lq9 a buddy of mine has in a 67 camaro he is putting together. It has a 230/240 custom cam in it.

There are plenty who are going the LS route. When I posted my build on the V8 Buick forum I got plenty of private messages. As to which motor I would go with a 6.0 cubed version or a 6.2 if you can afford one.

So iron block over L33 aluminum block and possibly lower HP? The L33 has 310 and depending on which 6.0 they range 300-345 stock and weigh more.. much more?

I am also trying to find a LS1/2 if the price is right.

Go with the bigger motor as you will want torque to move that buick. The iron block is around 110 lbs heavier.

Don't forget the LQ motors too. They will keep money in your pocket and reach your goal
