Default 15k engine build decision????

Hey I'm fortunate enough to make decent money at my job. I'm wanting to buy-build a motor I can drive hours on the freeway problem free but run 10s if needed. If you had 15k budget what will you buy-build engine wise naturally aspirated ?

You can get a good 427 shortblock from Livernois, good heads and get a cam spec'd. It's possible to hit your goals, the little things and labor will eat money quick. You'll need a good tuner and a competent shop to do the work. At least you have a realistic budget...

For that kind of budget you could consider a drop-in blown LS3 setup from Chevy. Talk about hours of idling in traffic reliability. It would blow most or all of your budget but wouldn't have to turn a wrench on it for 50,000+ miles.

I know you said NA but I think it's worth considering..factory supercharged setups drive like a Honda in traffic and like a ******* rocket ship when you get into the gas.

Buy a 454 lsx crate motor and have the heads ported maybe change the cam and you might be there.

I couldn't see spending 15k on a NA engine, unless trying to go all out and squeeze the HP out of it.

If you're paying someone to remove/install, that will eat up a sizeable amount.

Check out my build...about the same budget if you neglect my intake...ERL short block, Frankenestein heads, and a Mast intake would make awesome power for 15k...but that doesn't include any sort of labor for my build...

I really want go aluminum to keep weight off the car... With that being said I have thought about a ERL 440ci with a good pair of heads from Chris Frank and a custom cam ( I got a buddie with a ERL block right now 4.140 bore 4 bolt Super deck 1 for less than 3 grand)
Option 2 I have considered is buying a LS7 and doing a stealth cam upgrade ( a cam that improves power but sounds like a stock LS1)
Option 3 I have considered in my mind is doing a "big bull" motor from SPDC... a lot to think about tho

Hey man! Just buy mine!! Might be a little north of 15 but it's already broke in, the combo works, 400mi on it, very stealthy, you'll just have to sacrifice the wipers to make it fit.....
