stealing my wifes L9H out of her Denali for my race car! what replacement? Help!
I really want a 6.2 for my for my race car to replace the iron 5.3 currently it for obvious reasons. I cant find a decent price on one and wife doesn't need all that power in her truck so I going to nab hers and replace it with a 5.3 or 6.0. Im looking for some help on what version/year of 5.3/6.0 would make the easiest/cheapest swap. ready go
before you suggest I put the current 5.3 from my car in the truck, it is a built up motor that wouldn't be a fit for her or the truck.
truck is a 09 yukon denali
thanks

perhaps checking with a local dealership to buy a core would be the way to go. 5.3 cores are expensive at $2500, but I've seen 6.2, 6.0l and 4.8, with cores as low as $600 for a long block. if your gonna be building it for a race car, you can't beat that price.

Denali has a 190,000 on it and is tired and eats oil. 5.3 in car is a great motor but Iron block, dropping 80lbs of the front end of the car would be great plus it would be easy to get a bunch more power out of the 6.2. Car is a scca autox/time attack car. My current weight allows me more liters of engine and I would like to take advantage of it. Car is a 92 BMW 325is

no need to down anyone for their desire to do something different, just because it isn't what you would do.
I'm certain you can get a junkyard engine with no core charge for $500. there is a salvage yard around here that charges $189 for any v8 engine with no core charge, however beating everyone to it and having to pull it yourself is a pain. or since your going to build it for racing you could buy a core. I don't designate what dealers charge for cores. GM does.

ok, your right. I'm clueless. check your core charge, even from summit. one tends to wonder, where all these good $500 5.3l engines are coming from.
