We have made 680-690 on an engine dyno with our stg 1 ls3 heads and stock ls3 botom end. it made 566 to the rear tire with a 6 speed. So, that's about 1.79 hp per CI. Make it 403ci and it could possibly make 725hp. That was with a cam motion LLR and the Stock LS3 intake.

At what point or cubic inch do you recommend ported LS7 castings over say the Dart LS3 heads?

I prefer LS7 heads over LS3 at any bore over 4.060 or bigger. The LS7 is more efficient and has a better approach to the cylinder. that being said for the money it's hard to beat a good LS3 for a lot of applications.

Hmm that's good to hear. Have a 6.2 in my garage and just really trying to think of a solid race engine nitrous combo. Of course I don't have a bottomless bucket budget so that sounds appealing.

Damn Zack, where'd you get the 6.2 from or out of?

Ha have a buddy is a tech works at a GM dealer. Believe this engine came out of a escalade or denaili Customer complaint was low oil pressure he said several guys drove it with no complaints. But You spend that kinda money on a vehicle they just throw a new engine in it to make you happy. Sure he pays a cheap core charge and has several engines. I traded my dart 205 heads for it. So rebuild, stroke, solid roller, compression, heads and single plane with bunch o nitrous. Still going to run my setup I have now. This is just a project getting started.

Awesome man. Can't beat the displacement, especially for a nitrous setup. I think you need a set of these Dart heads worked over by Chris.

I'm going to e-mail you. I finally got a truck.

I think that number is spot on. When I made the 707 HP, that was with a 4150 with 1 3/8 venturis. When tested with a Lil' Bo the engine consumed nearly 50 more CFM, but I did not bring big enough jets for the Lil' Bo, and the A/F was about 14.5:1. I am certain that if I had a big enough carb for the engine, it would have made in that neighborhood.

You're referring to a small/medium bore LS7 correct?

I ask because I thought the valves on the OEM style LS7 (and it's aftermarket brethren) were too large for that bore size.....

There is a thread on YB where a few guys are commenting on how they've run stock LS7 heads on .060 and .070 bores. The intake valves clear just fine, but the exhaust valves approach the limits of valve to bore clearance they say.

Mmmmmmm...............interesting.

Especially since my 429 has 4.080" bores. I wonder..........

Thanks for the info. I'll look for that thread tonight!

Sorry to drag this up from the basement, but are these the head flow numbers for the Dart LS3 heads? I do not see any low lift flow numbers in the Dart 2017 catalog for them.
