Default 799 CNC ported head broken rocker arm bolt casting

Thought you all might like to see this and weigh in on it with you thought for the failure.

L33 with Comp 219 / 227 Duration, .357 / .367 lobe lift, .607 / .623 valve lift with 1.7:1 rockers, 114 deg, RPM 1500-6700.

CNC ported 799 castings
COM26926-16 - Dual valve springs COM1779-16 - Light wt tool steel retainers
COM623-16 - locks
7.400 5/16 thick wall pushrods
8000 miles

Built at professional engine shop. Was back to the shop 3 times for valvetrain noise. Found 3 broken lifter cups first time told me my fault for revving it on a stand. Second time they changed pushrod lenght. Told me third time some engines are just noisy. Sounded like a small kubota diesel. Got to the point I was scared to drive it and swapped it for a stock one out of my own pocket.

Opened up today and found this on #4.

Measure your coilbind clearance.

I've seen that before. Once was when the CNC program made the roof too thin. Another was when the stock one piece seals were used and the inner spring hit coilbind.

FELSS71039 - Valve seals are the ones, how do I check the inner coil bind? Not that smart on that kind of stuff, hence why a shop did the valvetrain. Thanks Tony

See if you can get a better pic of the valve seals. If you can get a spring off, that would be great.

I don't know that part number off the top of my head, but if they're the hat type where the seal and seat are all one piece, the inner spring is most likely going into coil bind because it isn't seated properly. That will certainly cause the damage you have.

How familiar is this shop with the LS platform? That's a very basic combo and should not be giving you problems....

The shop assembled the complete assembly? Or just the heads?
Any way I hope it all works out.

Back in 2012 when this project started the shop admitted they had only a little interaction with the LS motors and wanted to start learning more about them. Up to that point thier focus had been on desiel and anything non computer controlled. So as far as machining was concerned they had 30 years of business. I had no reason to think there should be any reason for concern.

On a good note they have offered to buy the motor back, they are working out a offer based off from everything that was put into it. If we can't come to terms then I will just part it out on here to try and recouped what I can.
