L99 cam for LY6 ?

Default L99 cam for LY6 ?

All,

I'm new to LS1TECH forum, LS engines in general and looking for some help ....
I just bought a 2008 LY6 with automatic trans for a budget swap project. I also bought a LS3 intake for hood clearance. (and increased performance maybe? yes / no)
I'm not needing anything over the top for performance but looking for a mild bump.
I've looked on line for spec's on the LY6 VVT cam and not had much success finding that information. I see that the L99 VVT cam has a 500/492 lift, how would this cam compare to the LY6 ?
I see the L99 cam is also DOD cam, but I'm not looking for DOD.
Questions, without the DOD oil circuit and lifters will this cam work in a LY6?
Would the L99 cam contribute to performance ?
Would I need to replace valve springs? Would this combination have enough valve to piston clearance? Would the VVT limiter need to be changed?

Replacing a stock cam with a stock cam is almost never worth the effort in terms of performance.

If you're deleting the DoD, then you don't use a DoD cam.

Hi Joe,
My Ly6 is not a DOD engine, I guess I'm asking if there was an issue with using a Cam from a DOD motor in a Non DOD Motor.
I was hoping to find specs on the Ly6 Truck cam vrs the L99 Camaro SS cam, would you know a good source where I might look.

My point was, don't use a DoD cam without DoD.
If you're going to go through the hassle of swapping cams, you might as well make it something with promising results.

Or you can spend a little more and get:

The first one will be very tame in an LY6.
The second one will idle with a lope but make more power/torque.
I think you'll have to get phase limiters for either one. Texas Speed has them for $60 but they usually offer a package deal if you buy them with a cam/valve springs.

You definitely can't use a DOD cam without DOD, you get misfire codes.

You can use the VVT but non-DOD L9H cam if you want a budget stock cam.

I'm a little late to this conversation, but I put an LS9 cam in my otherwise stock LY6 and found a huge bump in power with every day streeet manners.
