Default L99 cam for LY6 ?

All,

I'm new to LS1TECH forum, LS engines in general and looking for some help ....
I just bought a 2008 LY6 with automatic trans for a budget swap project. I also bought a LS3 intake for hood clearance. (and increased performance maybe? yes / no)
I'm not needing anything over the top for performance but looking for a mild bump.
I've looked on line for spec's on the LY6 VVT cam and not had much success finding that information. I see that the L99 VVT cam has a 500/492 lift, how would this cam compare to the LY6 ?
I see the L99 cam is also DOD cam, but I'm not looking for DOD.
Questions, without the DOD oil circuit and lifters will this cam work in a LY6?
Would the L99 cam contribute to performance ?
Would I need to replace valve springs? Would this combination have enough valve to piston clearance? Would the VVT limiter need to be changed?

Thanks in advance for the benefit of your knowledge,
Jeff

Replacing a stock cam with a stock cam is almost never worth the effort in terms of performance.

If you're deleting the DoD, then you don't use a DoD cam.

Hi Joe,
My Ly6 is not a DOD engine, I guess I'm asking if there was an issue with using a Cam from a DOD motor in a Non DOD Motor.
I was hoping to find specs on the Ly6 Truck cam vrs the L99 Camaro SS cam, would you know a good source where I might look.

My point was, don't use a DoD cam without DoD.
If you're going to go through the hassle of swapping cams, you might as well make it something with promising results.

Budget?

$300
http://www.texas-speed.com/p-5381-te...comp-cams.aspx

Or you can spend a little more and get:
http://www.texas-speed.com/p-5769-ne...-camshaft.aspx

The first one will be very tame in an LY6.
The second one will idle with a lope but make more power/torque.
I think you'll have to get phase limiters for either one. Texas Speed has them for $60 but they usually offer a package deal if you buy them with a cam/valve springs.

You definitely can't use a DOD cam without DOD, you get misfire codes.

You can use the VVT but non-DOD L9H cam if you want a budget stock cam.

I'm a little late to this conversation, but I put an LS9 cam in my otherwise stock LY6 and found a huge bump in power with every day streeet manners.
