Default LS3/L92 heads on 6.0... what happened?

Noticing there's not much recent discussion on 6.0s with LS3/L92 heads. im assuming it's because 6.2 blocks are much more common than they were a couple of years ago?
I've been out of the game for a while now due to a flood that set my project way back. I'd planned on using an LS2 block (that I already have) and running the LS3/L92 heads on it. Already have pistons for it too but had to sell off a bunch of parts to make ends meet during flood recovery.
Are there many people still running these combos? Curious to see what works and what doesn't with them. Just seems like everything I come across now is at least a few years old.

This has been done a lot with mixed results. Some guys have better results with cathedral heads on an engine that size. Ls3 heads on a 6.0 can work for sure but is really better suited for higher rpm applications. If you'd rather be revving 6500-6800 than 7500+ a good set of ported cathedrals would be better. If you want the rpm the ls3's will shine.

This a build I just finished. Had it dyno tuned last Friday. Hope this will answer some of your questions. There's also about 132 pages of info on ls1gto.com, look under LS1/LS2 Engine Tech

With my build the rev limiter is set at 6800 rpm the power goes to 6600 rpm.

I have an '06 Goat with the mods in my sig. The ported ls3 heads allow much more airflow at 7000 rpm than the cathedral heads I previously had - In fact, trying to rev the engine to 7000 with the old heads was a useless ordeal. I didn't have to fly cut as my cam is not too wild. I run a Cam Motion 618/600-224/236 on a 114 +4 and I have lots of PTV clearance. The car will now pull to 7000 but there's no point trying to rev it any higher as that's where the power ends. It would rev higher (as long as the stock bottom end didn't blow up) with a bigger cam but I'm pretty happy with the results the current cam has brought and I'm gonna leave it there. I bought the heads assembled from Brian Tooley Racing. In fact, most everything in the motor except the cam was purchased at BTR. I don't want to sound like an ad for those guys but they were really helpful and got me headed in a much better direction. Im now addressing the woeful stock bottom end limitations and I have the motor out and I'm installing a forged bottom end that includes custom made AutoTec 4.010 pistons that have a +4cc dome in them. With the 68cc heads I calculate I will have somewhere in the neighborhood of 10.8 static CR. I didn't want to mill my heads as frankly I don't want to hassle with the intake fitment issues. I realize that issue can be corrected but would rather leave the heads and intake alone. I do my own tuning with hp tuners pro. I will be dynoing this when it's completed and I will be happy if the car pulls 425-440 RWHP. I have a loose converter (Vigilante 3600 stall) . Also, I don't allow my car to run at WOT in 4th (OD) as I only have a single disk lockup clutch - so the higher numbers that I could get with an M6 or by allowing the car to WOT in OD will not be there. Hopefully it will be finished by early June and I will post the results.
