Default Ls2 cam suggestions needed-1964 impala

I have a 64 Impala with a 383 stroker/700R4 and 10bolt posi with 355 gear.. I bought an 06 GTO LS2 W/4L65 with 90k miles..Before i put it in the car i'd like to spruce it up a bit-maybe 50hp..This will be a street cruiser with some highway..Going LS for the reliability but still want a little pep..Any and all suggestions will be appreciated.I was told to look at brian tooley racing.-one suggestion was the LS2 STAGE 2 KIT but they werent sure if I can use existing trans converter..another was speed and performance..looking to see whats worked for others classic car applications

Want a little lope but easy-on-the-valvetrain lobes? Try the Chevrolet Performance LS Hot Cam. 219/228, .525" 112 LSA. Old school lobes, but will sound good and add the power you are looking for.

Not sure about that. Some cams, even though they lope a little, might still get by with a stock converter, but that question should go to someone with a little more experience with this cam or others like it.

A 90K mile LS2.....do you know the maintenance record of that engine?

If not, I strongly recommend at least a minor rebuild to go with that cam, prior to installing.

^ He is correct in the notion tha the gto amd tbss ls2s are notorious for rod bearing issues.

If you need a remain, rering, or full rebuild kit we have all of them available for smokin deals better than summit.
