The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
First off, I scaled the tune 25%, because I was getting 512 g/sec from 5600 rpm up till I let up. I also did get the dwell up to 8-ms. Still running about 25 degrees total timing under full load.
For $600, I got the sniper low profile to see how it does. Have to say, I like this intake. The main reason is that it allowed me to really clean up the engine bay. I run -4AN steam vent lines. I was able to run them under the intake, re-route the harness, reroute the fuel connection, freed up some space near the firewall, and really improved the engine bay appearance. I still have some more work to do on supporting the radiator (I can see everyone laughing at the strapping holding it up already) and freeing up some more space for the vacuum pump to run well, but It is back on the road. Here are some quick performance specs:
Peak.......................Stalk............Sniper
G/Cyl Airmass........1.26.............1.32 (scaled 25%)
G/Sec Airflow..........unk (512)....601 (scaled 25%)
IDC.........................86%............98%
Max TPS................100%...........76%
WOT Map..............94 Kpa.........102 Kpa
Only issue is the sniper plenum interferes with NW 102 throttle cam. I can fix that, but it was unexpected. Other TB may or may not have same issue. Certainly ETC would not have the issue. Hoping to see even more improvement when I can hit 100% on the throttle.
I'd still like to upgrade to a custom controller, but I want the dash to work too, so that's still out there. I also still have tons to do at home, so I might have to "settle" for now...
Edit -- meant to add... I zeroed our the adaptive spark less than 100 rpm error. Really smooth now. Still sounds beefy but it is much tamer sounding.
