Default Powder Metal Seats?

Where can I find the same type, i.e. alloy as the Federal Mogul copper base powder metal valve seats?

Don't you mean copper base powder metal valve GUIDES?? Valve seats are much harder material.

Nope! Federal Mogul is making both guides and seats from a proprietary powder metal recipe of different alloys. Including tool steel, copper and other alloying compounds. They also claim they are easily machined.

OK, but the guides would have the copper in them, but the seats would not. The metallurgical properties of each need to be so different that they would share no characteristics between them. Guides need to be low friction, a bit on the soft side, where seats must be very hard and impact resistant. Nearly polar opposites. You mention different alloys. That is a given. I think you have the needs of the two components confused.

Default Federal Mogul knows more than we do!

I'm not sure where you get your information but here is the propaganda from the horse's mouth.

Call them and see who they are distributing thru, that is, if they are even available yet. Get your info from the horse's mouth. An internet forum is not where to go for info like this

OK, call WS6store, a sponsor/vendor here. They might have a heads-up on this stuff.
Sorry if I sounded rude, but it just sounded too far out in left field to be real. This could be interesting....

I'd call CHE for any seat or valve guide needs. They make them for most of the aftermarket and OEM race engine companies.

They have other proprietary materials that they have tested extensively. They may not be able to sell a single set to you, but they can probably put you in touch with a distributor/vendor that can.

Copper is used in the seats to help dissipate heat; pretty common with titanium valves.

Durabond has their “Killer Bee” line of copper infused valve seats
