Link is dead, but for the cost of junkyard 823 heads I wouldn't even waste my time on some Chinese heads

Liberty Ls3 heads @ 11 Degrees° FTW @ $400.oo each.

To the guy with the post about Chinese heads don't knock them if you haven't tried them. Made my own Ls7 head out of Pro Comp castings.... Plenty hàve used Chinà made heads with good results. The main is getting a good VJ and working the port with using your own Made in the USA parts..... valves and such...

Are the assembled LS3 heads from Liberty not worth it because of junk valves and springs? Sometime you hear horror stories about basically rebuilding and lots of machining to get a usable head. Heard about the 11 degree valve angle on Liberty LS3 heads, but could not find any info or people that had used them so was waiting on sidelines for a review to pop up eventually.

Do you know of SPS as
SPS Ls3 11° heads are Liberty Ls3 casting.... generally the castings good just not the parts used with stuff made other than in the USA... (Not saying SPS) Also after purchase you'd have your porter of choice work the ports and set the heads up with good parts

Parts used with Liberty heads that I do not know... I'm a person that likes specing my own parts and tend to not be going for the avg or normal build, so the parts offered with the heads serve no purpose. Example, my Ls3 cam has 730 lift while my Rowdy Yates pro comp ls7 heads is to have 830 lift...mind you this is 99% street build. So the parts offered aren't wanted or needed. Just give me the bare castings and let me have them set up for my intentions.

I know without ? what's used.

After talking to Frankenstein it seems they do private label heads with Liberty castings and possibly their monster heads(their own website said castings from overseas). They also said they won't do any port work on Liberty heads for individuals.

An engine buidler friend of mine said procomp got a bad name because of the shitty parts they are assembled with and lack of quality control while being assembled. Said the castings are pretty good and can make good power. Makes sense. Bargain basement valve train installed by simple laborers is a recipe from distaster.

They are knocking off good after market castings. Which is a good thing. But then again a bad thing..... but that's the ongoing China/moral debate.

Some of those ebay parts are tempting as F.

All depends on what's wanted and the amount ones willing to spend. For me and na with a 408 seemed a no brainier with a Ls7 head and a smaller bore.

Got a booth for the PRI show .....billet main caps for the coyote, gen5 LT1, & LS. Resleeve for all the blocks mentioned as well.

PRI was great in Orlando. I’m not about to go to Indy in December. No thanks.

Zach's trying to do some big things besides PRI...Shawn head guy over cylinder head training @ Sam will have his own space for his CNC programs for heads. Teaches in the day side $ by evening and night. Day time some one loads heads and CNC program ....$ even when he's not there. Nice team that's known for making winning combinations.

Liberty castings are actually great.

And SPS does great work. Just that's a very small shop.

Are the Liberty heads valve seats and valve guides good to go? I have an extra spring kit and some valves that I could drop on them easily and would be a low cost option for my 408 I am building.

I don't know. SPS reemed all that out and put CHE valve guides from what I recall.

I have Ferrea 2.120" and 1.60" valves (undersized--made more power than the larger valves with their port and VJ) and PAC 1209X springs shimmed up. They are heavy castings. Thick. Beefy. Modeled after MAST's castings...

That I do not know..... typically you'd have your porter look over the heads and work from there. You guys talking about Ls3 heads and I'm asking about gen 5 LT1 heads on a Ls.(already know they fit:from Steve >RED) Seen a rough port CID head with 1 runner done...if looks could Kill. Ports higher with a better line of sight .... Exhaust port is funny in the fact that it goes side ways, instead of a standard straight shot like that of a typical LS exhaust port. Old idea and question..waiting on ER response. Know what Darin thinks but like to hear other op..... hopefully what I want to hear. I've been put at the front of the line on the 408....>Shawn can do my heads set up no more Engine Challenges. WP and coils purchased.

Factory gen 5 LT1 thoughts ....cheaper C5R higher placement runner. Will see....

Totally agree here, Smoke. Go to the source for info. The infoweb is only ONE source, or venue. If a company wants to sell their product, they better be prepared to talk about it.

There selling .......that says it it all. I've gotten to know and meet some of the top 1 in this field with a question. Key thing is finding contact information. I got WJ # thru a LSX 500ci engine he did for a customer and shop owner. Back tracked the information....How are you felling Warren?

Never fails if you want something or information. Talking and asking...
