That test is on a 4.080 bore too.
Smaller bore will have less flow.
272 cc runners.

I know the thread is about cathedral ports.

if I was doing a hydraulic cam I'd probably go with a good cathedral port shifting 7000 or less. But solid roller over 408, prefer a ls3 or ls7 head

Has anyone used or know of anyone that has used the MAST 295cc LS1 cathedral port head?
It has peak flow of 410CFM at .750 lift.
Would they be any good at a 295cc intake runner?
They do require a 4.125+ to fit.

That's some very serious flow for a cathedral port head though.

Depends on what you mean.
The highest flowing head I have seen is a custom LS7 style head that flows 500cfm but requires custom parts.
The other LS7 I know is from Mamo who uses a trickflow casting and does his magic on it.
This flows 410cfm from a 265cc runner.
I'm betting though that the cathedral head listed will be stronger in the low and mid range.

Three most important items on head performance are airspeed, airspeed, and airspeed. 295 runner vs a 265, all else being equal, would benefit higher rpm not midrange

Darth, if you had two identical heads.
Both were 295cc.
One was LS7 one was cathedral.
Both flowed the same peak CFM at the same lift.
Which head would have better performance in the low and mid range rpm band?

Ls7 style for the raised runners

Edit - bit of an impossible question. Same port volume ls7 will pretty much always outflow same volume cathedral. Often smaller ls7 ports will outflow larger cathedrals. Air speeds on the ls7 are just better all around due to short side radius

I'm thinking the cathedral would perform better in low-mid and the square ports still will make more hp.

That's what I'm thinking too.
The LS7 style head would make more HP for sure but I also think at a higher rpm.

Yep.
Got it.
LS7 for the win.
I look forward to the day I work out which LS7 head to go with.
It's a real head ****.

Brodix ...if you want something special ask for the big spring package which requires Shaft mounted rocker arms with a Thick wall...It has just as much meat as a All Pro, Mast, etc..... 800 each bare and get port work... Roughly $1100.. gets no better... Get the best casting available and have your choice in Porter's.. It has the meat for anything.. your head just have port work to match your combination & RPM

I always call and ask for heads as cast! There's a part # for both heads.. Normal and the BS package.
I'll never buy with a CNC port...Y? I'm generally kinda on the wild side and know matching the CSA to the RPM and stroke used is the best thing....No reason to send a New CNC head back out...
that's Paying x2...
