Somewhere in between there.
I don't know what they're "rated" at, the ratings are usually best guesses anyway since there are so many variables. 1000hp either NA or with boost/nitrous stresses the rod in different ways.

I've seen them both in applications over 900whp so either should be fine for what you want out of your engine.

So what is the verdict?
Reuse current crank and rods or get new ones?

For the Callies crank and rods it's an extra $917 aud.
The price is definitely an upgrade depending on how you look at it. Haha.
Just thought I would ask to see what you guys say.
so if the fact they cost more =an upgrade, definitely do it.

I always thought you rated rods based on piston weight and max rpm. Added stiffness if using power adders kind of thing.

Bingo.
Bortous, personally I’d keep what you have.

Different rod bolts from arp have different ratings while using the same rod....same rod ones rated at 750 while another is rated for 1200 plus.

Guys I ended up getting new crank and rods.
The offer the builder was giving me for my current parts was too good to pass up.
So at least everything is all new and from what I read the compstar parts are a bit better.
All the other parts were ordered today too that are needed to put engine together.
Camshaft is here too:
Parts **** is where it's at:

Lift specs are for 1:7 ratio.

Remember its a 249/255 when converted to hydraulic.

Also remember you need more camshaft timing for cathedral heads vs square port.

It's not too big?

Should be with a nice tight 3500rpm stall converter.

Bortous,
when do you plan on this thing being done AND installed ready for Dyno tuning?

Engine is still not built yet.
All parts were ordered Friday and will be arriving tomorrow.
Once engine is built and camshaft is installed, the engine will be installed in the vehicle waiting for the top end to arrive.
By the time it gets built and I get the heads from Mamo, it will still be a while.
I would say another month.
Plus we have to consider this virus too.
If it gets any worse trade may be restricted and businesses won't be able to operate.
Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

Guys, do any of you know if the FAST LS3 fuel rails are compatible with the Cathedral version of the intake?
Fast does list different part numbers for the fuel rails but there are people saying that they are interchangeable.
Would be good if someone knows the answer.

No. You need the LS2 rails. Intake port is moved slightly vs the cathedral - hence the offset rockers on the LS3.

Just ordered the new kit.
I almost got the one for the LS1/LS6 version.

I would have kept the K1 stuff. Compstar is a marginal upgrade. I went with K1 in mine... only reason the Compstar might get the nod is the rod is lighter. But not stronger. And the heat treating on the crank is slightly better. But that only matters if you're pushing 1KHP.

I really worry about the builder you're working with. He seems to push a lot of unneeded upgrades for less than optimal results. Again and again.

And that cam is probably a touch too big for a streetable cam with a 3500 stall. It would do better with a 4000+.
