I really worry about the builder you're working with. He seems to push a lot of unneeded upgrades for less than optimal results. Again and again.
I never said it was a needed upgrade.
It was a suggestion because he wanted to buy old crank and rods so my old engine can remain complete as there was never anything wrong with the bottom end. (maybe a bearing but not sure)
I only lost $230 with my K1 package and I paid the difference for a brand new callies set.
I paid 1150 for the K1 crank and rods and he gave me $920 for it.
I think it's a good deal.
I hope you understand.

F all this nonsense, what I wanna know is what the heck was wrong with the first motor? You wouldnt catch me using same builder and tuner again til we figured out the who s, what s, where s, and when s of the last issue. Even if its an honest mistake or possibly someones fault or no ones fault at all...I d wanna know for sure before I dive into another build. Just my $.02

One day we will find out when engine gets fixed. It's going to be used for another of his customers who wants a refresh and it won't be that expensive. All it will need is a new top end.
As stated from old thread it is most likely a bearing issue but won't know for sure.
I assume a bearing may have been knocked and was out of clearance but we will see.
I will post once I know but it may not be for a while.

I didn't want to fix it because I had been wanting to build a new engine for a long time anyway.
That was the trigger to go all new.
Still glad I did.

Gotya...just hate seeing issues and threads that go unresolved. Unfortunately, every build that blows up or gets wounded, something is learned...

I understand.
As I said I will let everyone know what was wrong with old engine.
I'm going to have to post it in here because old thread was locked.

Been curios to know how well these hold up when running solid cam and lifters. Anyone running YellaTerra with solids on LS7 style cylinder heads?

These are running with cathedral heads.
No issues as long as you don't exceed 600lb open pressure.
I will be at 500lb open so all good.
Darth and Mick are using these for their ls7 setups.

I've been running them on a ls3 build with the 8mm bolts for over a year. Shifting just shy of 8000 rpm . Other than getting them to.fit under valve covers ,they are great

I had my ls3 yella terras for 9 years and no issues.
These were the version 2 not the 3 which came out two years later.

I've always heard horror stories of aluminum rocker arm failures so I've been skeptical.

There was at least from YT a bad issue with their first generation parts. Their third generation parts, I don't hear of many failures at all. I will admit I was a bit concerned about taking the aluminum ones to 500 lb open pressure. The pros are very different from the ultralites in terms of what they can tolerate. I had zero issues with the ultralites on my 5.7 with LLSR and .653 lift with 1.7 rockers.

Darth, if you have the pro street version these are rated to 600lb of open pressure so you will be more than fine.
What is the part number for those rockers you got?

Most of those failures were in the generation 1 days.
If you don't exceed the max open pressure they are fine.
Yella Terra told me all about the issues.

I'm still curious myself about it and would like to know what caused the oil pressure to take a dump all of a sudden. You gotta remember though, Bortous says his builder never had any issues until they installed that solid roller setup. He had a perfect engine prior to that, that the same guy had built/tuned etc. So I don't think it was his builders fault because from memory I think the basics like oil pump o-ring, relief spring in the pump, etc were already checked out to be ok after the oil pressure issue happened.

That's exactly right.
As I said I will post what the issue was.
