That's a good block.
May I ask how much you paid for it?
I originally wanted to get the aluminium version however the cost was 2.5 times as much compared to the Pro iron Block I have.
I'm curious to see if the block is any cheaper where you are compared to here.

Coming together going to be an awesome build. When do you think you will have it running?

Yes it is finally nearing the end now.
I was going to post tomorrow with a small update but seeing as though you have asked now I shall do it for everyone.
Lifters and heads are complete, and it's pushrod time.
Unfortunately those Custom Manton Pushrods I got are way too short to use.
The length I need will have to be at least an 8.500 but I will find out tomorrow for sure what is needed. Needs to measured up correctly.
After this, the engine will finally be installed in the vehicle, the intake manifold, and steam port kit attached and then will be ready for tuning.
There is a chance engine will be fired up this week sometime, if not, definitely next week.

And to put this into perspective, I have around $4800 in my Darton sleeved GM block after fitting Katech billet main caps and all machine work. I’ll go aftermarket next go around.

That's exactly what my builder told me about sleeving.
The expense to do it comes to the same cost as a new block.
Unless you got to have a gm aluminium block, the aftermarket is the way to go.
At $2960 I have a state of the art block that comes with beefy ARP main caps with minimal machining required to get it ready for assembly.

Although this block does require an expensive ARP head bolt kit though.

Pushrod length needed ended up being an 8.500
3/8 diameter .138 thick wall.
Also with a 210 degree radius tip.
We JUST couldn't use the 8.400 length pushrods from old engine as they came up too short.
They won't be here till next week.
The performance shops down here have been extremely busy and sold out of a lot of parts.

I had head bolts already and now just spent $500.00 for 6bolt stud kit

My aluminum ls next block was under $5k. My ls7 block was $2k lol. To sleeve it was a little over $1000. I got a smoking deal or I would've done an aluminum Ls next for that too. Something cool about a stock gm block imo. I don't know why I like it. Hell my stock aluminum LS1 block is pretty quick too. Darth has a fun setup. Rare gm block is cool af.

The gm ls7 blocks down here are so expensive at 5k USD for a new one.
We also have readily available the gm c5r block for 6200 usd.
You guys can see why I chose my current block.

Darton wet sleeve was ~2200 plus another 1200 in the finishing machine work such as final hone. Look at it this way. If you already have a block, then the wet sleeves might be a good option.

If you have to buy a block anyway, things get muddier for sure. Or if you have a unicorn block or one with sentimental value - like it came from your dads car or something or you and your brother built it years ago type of thing.
