Default Yet another 416 build.

This is a motor I started a few years ago but got sidetracked with a move to my new place, built anpther LS swap car in the mean time so I’m back on it now and I’m very close to getting it running and would like to get out to track the fall before they close up for the winter.
Its a new LS3 block from Summit Racing, when they were affordable. Scat 4.00 stroke crankshaft, Scat Q-lite 6.125 lentgth H beam connecting rods (570 grams) JE 2618 alloy stroker pistons with 3cc dome, 1.115 CH, about, 420 grams. 1.2, 1.5, 3.0mm file fit rings. Pistons .006-7 out of the hole at tdc.
Torque plate honed .005 over, main bores line honed with ARP hardware. Decks clipped .005”, block came with new cam bearings installed.
Camshaft is Cammotion LLSR specced by Steve ( Speed Tigger) 251-263@.050 111 LSA with .698 .680 lift. JP performance single chain billet timing set, ported Melling 10296 oil pump,
Heads are AFR 260s milled to 65cc exactly using Cometic MLS .045” thick.
Heads are equipped with 2.17” hollow stem intakes from Tony Mamo. Rockers are 1.7 shaft Crower stainless steel that needed a little massaging in the corners of the head to lay flat as the AFR provided rocker stantions were not used.
Push rods are Manton 7/16 (.120?) 8.5 inches long. Lifters are Comp Cams solid Endurex.

I think those AFR's are really, really good. Are there flow numbers anywhere for a 4" or 4.065 bore?

The 415 my dad built he used the GM finished 4.065 bore and it runs fantastic. The finish on that bore was great. Very consistent. Saved a little money and eliminated the risk of someone screwing up the block.

What is the logic with an even larger intake valve?

I think you'll be seeing over 700 depending on the manifold you cap this thing off with! What manifold and headers?

Moroso pan with trap door baffling and windage tray. It’s a road race pan with faster oil return than the drag race pan so it was an easy choice.

Holley tall valve covers clear Crower shaft roller rockers easily. Holley HiRam is the intake for this motor. I bought this one of CL for a good price but it was a 92mm for LS3, So..... it’s now a 105 with some interior porting as well.

The interior intake funnels got their radius opened slightly, 1/2” to 5/8”

I know a lot of people are having a hard time digesting 8.5” push rods but that is the length needed for Comp solid rollers to 12* heads with Crower rockers, and that’s with rocker adjusters in near half travel. I thought something was wrong , I used a Big Block Ford adjustable pushrod to find my lengths .

AFR claims 384 CFM on their machine using a 4.155” bore gauge, I’m thinking like 375CFM on a 4.070 bore, but who knows. They are nice quality. The 2.17 intakes are only a little larger but this is what was available for hollow stems.

I’ve since moved ‘this project to the front of the line and it’s in a new location with plenty of room to work on it. The car mostly is but it a Cromoly roll bar go to 10.00 flat, I think I’m going finish it into a cage good to 8.50 and get licensed. I’m not into bracket racing as I am into seeing what I can do with a given set up or build but I’m reasonably certain it’ll make 725 flywheel and 625 rwhp, good tune allowing that through a powerglide and an 8.8, 4.30 gear Going to use 105mm TB, Aeromotive A1000 pump, E85 fuel, 83lb Holley low impedance injectors that WILL work with HP ecm, I’ve since swapped out the mechanical water pump for a 50 gpm electric pump with in line 180 Tstat and install Moroso evacuation pump, using the small drive cog to start out with. Up to today the engine is in and hooked up everything needed incuding Holley engine harness, fuel system etc tranny cooler lines etc. so hopefully start it soon.

Using 1-7/8” Dynotech headers into a 3” x pipe, dumped at the rear axle.

Nice. Another pony saved.

Love the head selection for this. The intake runnner size to the size of the motor is perfect, in my opinion.

Good work on the intake, too. Subtle changes, I like it.
