I see what your saying about the site and all one needs to do is to look at the activity on the forum. There's plenty of topics that I see but really don't find of interest and when you decide to post a new thread it will get some views with only a few responses if any. Sometimes that's all that is needed and a simple thanks will do but people still continue to leave comments on a particular thread and all of a sudden it gets heated and immature or inappropriate comments are made..

It's getting really old and I'm not getting any younger so I'm gonna finish the 99 and see where it all goes from there..

There is so much BS to always shift through. I'm surprised it's taken someone so long like Holdener to compile testing. Even if you don't like the guy, he has organized it nicely and able to see effects of changes without variables.
Anyway my point is, its free and it shouldn't be. I waste so much time reading through people's babble, I would pay for information that I want.

You've done enough cool builds Mavn that you could easily contribute.

It's so awesome to watch a 10 minute video and learn what would take all day reading threads. I'm still surprised by combinations and I've been playing for 15 years.
These engines are making damn near the power my supercharged 383 SBC did with a 236 cam. It's impressive.
I still have not seen the info I want on the L92 heads, there are still some mysteries there for me and many other folk.

Now that I've contributed to mucking it up more.....

Funniest thing about Richards Builds is The **** is Old as ****! He just took what Hot Rod had did put it into a Video from Yrs ago ... Same as not Finding Nothing really new Here. They've Covered Everything on this Forum.... When a person has Nothing to Do or Nothing Good to read they find the Thread with the most stuff going on or post.

Yea I recognized some of it from 20 years ago. Alot of it is just regurgitated magazine stuff. However alot of those old articles dont contain the pictures or dyno numbers anymore. I've been mostly interested in the gains and losses of camshafts, intake manifolds, and rec port heads. Made it nice to see necessary stall converter speed relative to cams. Also cool to see how little a bigger cam gained on an engine (heads) already tapped out and that a smaller cam picked up torque everywhere.
I have forgotten more than I remember, so the videos are a nice reference.
Many dynos I see have had had too many changes to truly know the effect of each component. Or the dyno curve starts so high it makes you wonder what the low end losses were. A good street engine (in my personal preference) has many more factors to deal with than just WOT top end hp. Actually a dyno is a poor tool for measuring street ability, doesnt take into account tip in torque or part throttle tq, but if smaller ports or smaller cam can get similar top end goals then I assume it will make a better curve and more tip in. Efficiency I suppose is what I get excited over. I'm rambling.

I think of Efficiency as Doing More with Less. Smaller cam, heads etc..

​​​​​​Get the Compression up as with Mavn. Bigg port Heads? Smaller cam and Compression up. Small port and Matching cam? Get the Comp up = getting the most with ones buck $

On the mag articles....I just Threw away All my old Mags about 2 months ago. As you said the Websites doesn't show what the mag's did in terms of power and listing. Richard has the Layover Graphics 📈 👍

but the Mag's thrown away...

Some of Richard's videos ARE old, like maybe 10 years.
He will use data from them in his current videos if it is still relevant.
And he will say if something in them no longer holds true.

Sometimes people get Caught up in Dyno numbers rather than Look at the Total sum of its Parts and usage.

🤣 Less than 500rwhp @ 2850 runs 5's below 7500 Rpm with Stock cubic inches. Known Fact + Suicidal is doing a similar build on YB but with 2 TB's with the Holley dual 4150 sniper + more compression. Drag Setup!

How much does the Avg C6 weight? Mavn has the Cubes and the Comp.

No real weight reduction you can get a c6 in the 2900 range. You want to ***** one out 2700s are doable. You want to get stupid 2500 lol

408" 2900lbs Vette
6.0 then Ls3" 2850 MooStang....

seems fair to say things Would be close for a ET. Both running below 7500.

True, if you go full mental 2300 range is possible with a turbo car, can drop even more NA and spending a few bucks on the TRZ front... not that I would know since I don't have any cars

Guys, let's keep this thread on track. Mavn does a lot with his builds to educate the community. Good news. Sometimes bad news... but the fact is they are all learned moments that helps us all go faster with *hopefully* less heartache. Richard Holdener's stuff is great too.. AB Testing at no cost to anyone. It may not be relevant to everyone here, but it is for someone even if it is repurposed from his testing prior to his Youtube channel. We're just glad the guy is able to make a living at it because he helps a lot of people and keeps them from making expensive mistakes.

I agree with Summitracing. This was my "go to" thread for a while (until the dropped valve and the updates stopped). Every day I checked for updates be it changes or commentary. I really enjoyed seeing the fun Mavn was having while trying stuff, as well the candidness of this thread, until ...ya know.
This thread led me to search out threads from other "characters" in here and I learned a ton. It's been awesome to see the spectacular end result, even if it was a rocky road to get there.

glad to see. The dropped valve didnt discourage you. It merely paved to way for a stroker lol. Who build the shortblock? Heads, cam and intake?

I hope your girl doesn’t have that heavy of a lead foot. You’ve built a badass ride. Thanks for sharing

Ricks machine shop did the shortblock to my specs. I dont trust anyone anymore with their massive main and rod bearing clearances and ring gap . Then i did the rest of the build.

Ran a built lt1 6th gen with cid heads, huge cam, high high compression, highram with a meth plate, trans brake 10 speed. Gutted, full suspension etc. Lol its basically a low-mid 9 sec n/a race car . He gave me 1 car for $500 a side. And the mfin VETTE got it done!! He spun, and i treed him. I was the underdog by FAR lol even eith a 1 car head start . He said it makes high 600s to the tire.
