Default Summit stage 5 cam, c6 build progress.

Wasnt planning on building my Corvette yet, but my wife hit water and hydro locked it and bent #7 rod. Soooo lets build this thing .

Heres the plan: it can go 2 ways..

Put a rod in it, and send it. Shortblock looks good besides mr S shaped rod.

Clean block up
summit stage 1 ghost cam
PAC .660 dual springs
Ls9 head gaskets
ls7 lifters
Pushrods

now to the heads...
Mill my stock ls3 heads .030 with a valve job .
stock ls3 intake
Orrrr....
Put my PRC 220cc as cast cathedral 62cc chamber heads on it. And put a MSD atomic manifold.
thoughts???

Both same cost. Sell my heads and intake for close to what a a msd atomic costs. Or pay $300 for mill and vj on ls3 heads
speed engineering headers

Keeping factory converter . And npp exhaust

Heres some pics!!

Guys, let's keep this thread on track. Mavn does a lot with his builds to educate the community. Good news. Sometimes bad news... but the fact is they are all learned moments that helps us all go faster with *hopefully* less heartache. Richard Holdener's stuff is great too.. AB Testing at no cost to anyone. It may not be relevant to everyone here, but it is for someone even if it is repurposed from his testing prior to his Youtube channel. We're just glad the guy is able to make a living at it because he helps a lot of people and keeps them from making expensive mistakes.

Sucks Mavn. I’d keep it square and mill em’, just because I’m a fan of square port heads, and it would retain a stock look. Definitely cam it while your in there however.

Drive out west and visit (Bellville 77418). You'll be pleasantly surprised what can be done with a very mild cam and ported and milled LS3 heads. Mine is even the same color as your wife's. Here's my build TxSpeed heads and mild cam build - CorvetteForum - Chevrolet Corvette Forum Discussion . It's been two+ years and 20K miles since the build. Wouldn't change a thing. It's perfect in my eyes. Perfect manners, great fuel eco, and 500 rwhp.

With the 222/233 115+3 "ghost cam", I would use the LS3 heads. Get them decked and VJ, like you said, and possibly 1.8 rockers to bump lift up to 638/609... from its 600/575 with 1.7 rockers.

Summit sells a “ghost” cam? Clearly they didn’t get the joke. A “ghost” cam isn’t actually a cam, it’s a tune that makes your bone stock engine idle like it’s got a big cam in it. How funny.

Sell everything and put the new Brodix BR1 Cathedral's on it and the MSD intake and hold on. I would tell you to stick with the LS3 heads and send them to Frankenstein for their stage 1 port IF you were going to sleeve the block and build a 388. I think you could hit close to 600whp with a slightly bigger cam and the FAST LS3 intake. Cost would not be insane, same block/crank, even keep the rods maybe. I think it's the cheapest way to that much power. I still think the Brodix BR1's are the absolute **** on anything smaller than a 4.125 bore. At least for out of the box.

Someone needs to get up to speed on the summit "Ghost" cam.

I believe it was marketed as a stage 1 turbo cam, and then MAVN ran it in a NA car with stock converter in it. The reason it's called a ghost cam is because of the idle quality.

It's all bite no bark

if I didn't know any better I'd swear you told her to suck that water up just so you could build it.

I vote keep the stock heads. MSD intake will give up some midrange over a stock type intake, which you maybe don't want to be doing in a street car that your wife drives.

Ghost cam, mill the stock heads for a bit more compression, done.

Mill the LS3 heads to get to about 11.5:1 compression with a .040" head gasket, and radius rod mod on the intake.

Ghost cam, shave/VJ LS3 heads, rod mod LS3 intake... and 1.8 rockers/springs if you can swing it... I think the added lift will help, though.

if you do that, which is not horrible, do the offset BBC .030 head dowels and slide the head over some like Chevelle did(smart move). A little bit of room makes that head work better. Brodix will still kill it, though.

A smart mechanic keeps the audience in mind. My wife doesn't like me getting too fancy with her car, either. :-)
