Ls2 rod bearing problem

Default Ls2 rod bearing problem

Rn I'm in the middle of building a ls2 and finished assembling pistons and rods and before installing arp rod bolts the motor turned over ps they were at 15ft lbs before ik that's wrong but from what I've read on Forms they are supposed to be torqued to 40-45 ft lbs with arp lube but now my motor wont turn over at all could this be wrong bearing size or just over torqued I'm going to check sizing tmr but want input thank you

Make sure you don't have a rod turned the wrong way.

what do you mean the rod turned the wrong way? If you mean the dot facing beckon the rod and dot on piston facing forward there all like that

I believe stock rods can go in either way.

Did this turn over with the stock bolts?
I think you said it did but with only 15 ft lbs. After the 15 ft lbs you need to turn an additional 85 degrees.

If they are the ARP 2000 bolts, 45 ft lbs is correct with ARP lube on the threads and under the bolt heads.

What was your bearing clearance and how did you check it?

I don't remember on clearance i put it together in 2015. Get you some plastic gage from the parts store

after just looking my clearance is .0015 that means the bearing is too big correct? Its suppost to be around .0035?

Plasti gage reads a little tight sometimes. Even at .0015 it shouldn't lock your engine up where you can't turn it. What I meant by turn a rod the wrong way is if it's turned the wrong way they will hit and lock the engine up. Re check everything.

OP, not clear what's new on this build (i.e. what's new since it was last rotating without issue). Just rod bolts? Bearings too? If bearings, check to make sure bearings are narrow to account for radius.

Have the rods been resized and used with oversized bearings? If the rods are being used ‘as is’, it is possible that the ARP bolts are sufficiently distorting the rods that they are binding on the crank.
