So i order summit racing pistons for my project SUM-32694340651. Its a 4th gen 6.0 that needed machine work so we decided to go with 4.065 bore. I got the pistons but these pistons did not come with a spec sheet that my machine shop needs to do the correct work. I called summit but they really dont have that info. The main specs we need is the piston turn diameter and at what degree. Also does anyone know who makes summits pistons?
If you have a 4.065" bore piston, the cylinder needs to be 4.065" diameter. The clearance is already built into the piston. Although I do understand wanting to make sure what you have is correct, an experience machinist knows where to measure the piston.
We apologize for any confusion or frustration. There should have been an instruction sheet like this one in the box with the pistons.
To clear up where to measure the piston. All of our PRO LS pistons have a gauge point in the skirt coating 90 deg. from the wristpin. Also, they are machined with .004" clearance built-in. As others said you would machine the block at 4.065" for these particular pistons.
