Default cam upgrade for 4.8 swap

**New User, take it easy on me

Just finished up a 4.8/4l60e swap on my 88 Volvo 240 wagon and got most of the bugs worked out of it. Now looking to squeeze out a little more power from the combo so I figured a cam swap would be the first move. Also plan on changing converters as the stock one feels a bit tight for the car, even stock. Was eyeballing this one, but figured I would gain a little more input before pulling the trigger.

Info on the car
3200ish lbs
stock internal 4.8 with hooker manifolds
3.73 gear with a 195/55 16 tire
rebuilt 4l60e from a local shop

Where do you want the powerband to be?

its pretty weak down low, so i'm hoping a converter helps me there. would like a cam that gives the most pickup in the mid range

With a 4.8L and that convertor, something in the 204 to 206 intake range and 32 to 35 intake valve closing. For example, the BTR Stage 1 Truck, or SDPCs LS6 Power Max.

You may want to consider Summit’s Pro Ls Sum-8720R1. It will work with your stock converter and work even better with our 3000-3200 red converter. We have a feeling it’s going to make your car everything you want it to be.

Good choice on the converter. What intake manifold are you planning to run on it?
