Possibly ordering a GM Performance 495 LS engine
Looking to void the warranty
If anyone is familar with this particular crate engine, what is the best way to void its warranty while offering more power and longevity? I notice all of GM's crate motors have cams with low lift vs. being over .600's. Can I select a cam to work with this exact platform low lift but extract more HP from doing so?
This motor also doesn't detail, Timing set, Oil pump, Springs used etc... So what is needed? The LS376/480 Long Block is the powerful LS3 6.2L power coupled with:

What's the new engine going in? Those details matter greatly for the forum to provide quality suggestions. Why buy a GM Crate with warranty if you're planning to mod and void the warranty?
For the typical ~3500 pound car, the GM Hot Cam was a lousy choice for an LS1 back in the day and in my experience is still an extremely suboptimal cam choice for an LS3.
I'd consider the GM crate LS3 and having Cam Motion or other reputable vendor suggest the best cam swap for your goals and combination. Assuming buying a new GM crate motor only to void its warranty isn't an issue.

I don't want to void the warranty per se. But you can't source ls3 these days.
5th gen camaro ss.
I want close to 500whp and back on the road.
Is the L94 an option with healthy cam and ls3 top end? They are cheap vs. Ls3 options.
Also might have sourced an Ls7, but needs sump conversion kit..

The L94 has both AFM/DOD and VVT, so you would need to convert all that to "normal" cam, sprocket, lifters and trays, plus the LS3 valley cover.

Absolutely spot on. I wonder how many guys are out there running around thinking they're covered, when they have absolutely no warranty because Mr. best friend helped install it instead of Mr. Goodwrench. I'm pretty sure you also must run the GM PCM that is tuned to the crate engine, which must be purchased separately for, oh, another $1,200.00, give or take. Reading the fine print, and a thorough understanding of the warranty terms, are of the essence!!

I almost fell for the 480 or 525 crate engine but they had insane waiting times for it. Got the 430 HP version and immediately swapped in a custom ground cam by cam motion which is somewhat aggressive (229/240-.646/.629-111+3), rocker trunnion upgrade, high pressure oil pump, 3/8 pushrods, etc. will be using stock heads and lifters for now...little nervous with those ls7 lifters and 400 lbs of dual spring pressure but we will see. May just throw a set of Johnson's in there.
Of course that voided my warranty but it is what it is. I'm in it for power and not a daily driven LS3. Long term goal is to make it a forged 418 stroker so I'm not too worried either way

While l will agree the GM performance 495 horsepower crate engine with the LS3 hot cam is not a max effort max horsepower camshaft it is fairly mild cam l have this crate engine in my 2011 Camaro 2SS with CNC ported LS3 heads a 6L80e automatic transmission with a Circle D 4200rpm stall converter stock 3.27 gears with just 3 eighth mile passes with many other upgrades car ran 7.40 at 94mph with a 1.70 60 foot time tuned and runs on E85 naturally aspirated no it's not the highest horsepower camshaft for a LS3 l can tell you it makes very very good flat torque from 3000rpm-6200rpm and revs to 6600rpm redline extremely quickly car has full interior air conditioning weighs 3920 with me in it has a ever so slight chop at idle that doesn't lead you to believe what it's capable of car cruises 80mph on the highway at 2100-2200rpm like stock and with more testing and more runs car could probably go 7.20s at 96mph car has very wicked throttle response just saying it's mild yes it pulls to 130mph very strong and will do 120mph in a little over 11 seconds and can be driven anywhere this setup only has 850 miles on it so far so I'm still breaking it in with a 150 hit of nitrous with traction car should go 6.70s at 105mph maybe even better in the eighth mile

My 495 LS3 crate with upgrades using the 219 duration intake 228 duration exhaust with only 525 lift cam with CNC ported and milled LS3 heads made 520 horsepower and 495 foot pounds of torque at the crankshaft and 430 horsepower and 410 foot pounds of torque at the wheels on E85 not huge numbers but has put the smack on a couple of late model cars including a 2020 Camaro SS with a cam and upgrades 6 speed manual and a 2021 Mustang 5.0 10 speed automatic with upgrades including 3.73 gears and a Circle D 3500rpm stall converter both claimed they are making over 500 rearwheel horsepower l care more about quarter mile and eighth mile times than rear wheel horsepower numbers are there cars out there that can smack my cars *** of course my 495 LS3 crate engine with good maintenance and not being beat on constantly will run as long and as well as a stock LS3 will without the headaches that comes with big high duration high lift cammed cars that will require more maintenance and be much more rough on the valve train over time and miles my car is getting 13-14 miles a gallon in the city and 19-20 on the highway driving it very easy on E85

I would do the L94 w/ a BTR Stage 3 NA LS3 cam/pushrods/springs, etc. Gwatney has good combo's too. Put a .040 Cometic gasket on to bump the compression a touch. I would NOT put an LS7 in it unless it's a sleeved block and aftermarket heads. The factory stuff just has way too many issues and the crankshaft is different from wet sump to dry sump. Rod mod//port the stock intake manifold. If you need an intake, I have a few new factory take-offs complete w/ rail, injectors, etc.
I went with the ls7. . Now while its winter i am looking for head options. Makes pretty damn good power as is. 562whp

Just curious what dyno read 562whp?? The 2 OEM LS7 motors were rated 505hp, and 570hp, both at the crank. 562whp would require at least 625 crank hp. Just sayin', and just curious.....

Well its got the cam which is reported to add 65hp. I have an air intake, stock ls7 manifold, long tube headers, and 25% reduction balancer along with custom dyno tune. 562/509 on hot humid day.
Stock ls7's anywhere from 440 to 460. Check out RPM Youtube they specialize in C6 Z06's and other GM late models.

I placed a claim for itemization with pictures. Guess what denied!! For the fact it was accepted at delivery. It was delivered offsite to my brothers biz.
I imagine much worse for any head or engine damge due to use.
