Default PRC 285cc LS7, Real Head flow data?

Has anyone independently verified the actual head flow data from the PRC 285cc LS7 heads? They are on sale right now and I'm looking to pick some up for a 4.155 bore ( 4" stroke) darton sleeved engine with a hi ram and BTR Stg 4 V2 ( 246/264 .662 111+3) they seem to have the best price w titanium valves by quite a margin over anything else.
I seen what i think was a 265cc test where they barely flowed more than a stock LS7, and looks like they changed the guides up since that was done...

Yes I don't want to invest 5500 in a set of Mast or other heads when I could buy a used procharger for the price difference....the Trick Flows come with a lifetime warranty but I'm having trouble finding someone I could send them to that would do the light short side and bowl/throat bleeding work they need, iron mask won't even answer my emails or phone calls, Katech does but they only deal with stock castings which would cost the same at these PRCs when done???
I did search but I can't find it, any deals out there better than this, also they will be going in at 12 to 1, in front of an auto with 4400 stall...thought about maybe going to a street style solid roller down the line and I have ST2126SLR lifters fir it as well.....

Thanks

You'll be in those PRC's for $3500+ so what's another $1500-$2000 for a set of MAST or LME Brodix BR7 cylinder heads? I'm not running down PRC cylinder heads because I've had a pair of the TSP PRC LS7 265cc heads outfitted with those expensive Manley Ti intake valves and they performed great. About the only thing I can say is that at least you could repair the MAST and Brodix heads due to the quality of the aluminum they use. Not sure that would be the case with the PRC cylinder heads.

Well at 2000 extra that entering used D1x procharger terrority, just seen one go by around that hehe....d1sc even less...p1x ....

I didn't know they had subpar aluminum, thats huge to know..i noticed the Frankenstein of similar price( 3600 ti) i think M711s say basically off shore casting machined by them, so they denote it may be lesser aluminum/casting at least. But yea to me right now 2000 is a lot more but I absolutely 💯 appreciate the feedback....did you dyno or race the 265s ( i guess those would be comparable to a trick flow out the box, according to the only REAL flow thread I can find? Did you have your 265s flowed? )...

I may wait, I won't deal with MAST again they really hosed me over but maybe a BR7 variant done by a reputable company if I don't roll the dice.....like an LME, Hoopers, wcch ect

Thanks again......

stay away from the PRC sellouts that company is garbage now and their customer service is an absolute joke. Br7’s are superior in every way and you’ll make more power.

Tony Mamo is your guy for working TFS heads. Nobody better. There’s an incredible deal on a NEW set of BR7 freshly ported by IronMask on Corvette Forum right now. They are bare castings, but it’s a great price. Here’s a link for those heads…https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...iron-mask.html
You have a nice parts list here, and I like where your going. Please don’t skimp out on heads. You will regret it. It’s cheaper to pay the $4k+ now than to “only” pay $3k now, and then have to pay $4500 later because you “saved a couple thousand” to start with. It’s an expensive hobby. Do it once and do it right. It’s waaay cheaper in the long run.

Thank you the pretty consistent feedback I'm getting is they don't stand behind guide failures ect ( tsp ) and under perform to their new contemporary designs.....and that Brodix is the best base head to modify its almost universal.....
I seen threads where they point to preload come on man, preload I could see wanting up from specific swipe/scroll patterns with proper geometry and should specify preload for popular lifters but preload that's not insane aka bottoming out or loose bouncing, or spring vs ramp rates aka have an approved cam and or lobe profile if your not gonna stand behind it....

One thing about Trick Flows thru summit is they have a lifetime warranty period.....
I did send an email to Tony ive used his BBC heads before, to see if he would do his port work ect without forcing me to run shafts right now ( not that it's not on the menu after a successful break in and recovery later ) and I don't want to run the ported msd nothing against it but the hi ram fits in my car with its current cowl hood and I know it's not popular here but an old 67 Camaro needs to be slightly raw but I still want my rpm vs the refined balanced mamo trick flow/msd system hehe I'm an old man yall probably don't understand it and sneer a bit but I've had that muscle car over 35 years its been in family more than that, with the sequential injection , per cylinder timing and fueling ill get a little big port low velocity driving issues out when it's a loose stall ( I can lock up at WOT ) and 4l80e, my demands are a lot less on refinement but I couldn't leave this world with my bbc and F1A-94 on it in there for my daughter and grandson to wipe themselves out in...hence ls7 big hp lower torque straighter running car

Really appreciate you all merry Christmas and I indeed look like santa....

But my god Brodix seems almost universally praised as the best base to start with and then a good port program on it....

iron mask hasn't been answering my emails or phone calls I was scared they went out of business....cause I WAS looking at them to port my hi ram to their trick flow program or indeed the BR7 program.....

I know man and i know Tony he is top notch......and adjustable rocker would be easier with my ST2126SLR lifters for sure possibly LLSR later I get it, I have nothing but respect for Tony Mamo when I got his 265cc tiny oval AFR bbc chevy heads my entire race group horse laughed till it made 686hp with less than 10 to 1 and small cam ( ran 6.60s at 104+ mph 1.5x 60ft 3960lbs 3600 stall and 4l80e on 3.25 gears and 29.6 tire footbraking no drama) aka faster than many 360cc headed 496 of my peers and they had solid rollers i was running a billet core hyd roller lobe with solid roller lifter aka doing a lot more with a lot less on 93 not ms109 or "av gas".

The Brodix are the best bang for the buck. The CID are excellent power makers, along with All Pro. The Trick Flow's are pretty good for the $$ and if you want a simple head with a clean up job, those would be my choice. I can get deals on new Brodix if you go that route. Don't blindly slap a cam in it, pick the head first, then the cam.

I can't find anyone to " clean up the trick flows" aka little short side and bowl work...? That's a lot cheaper

Nothing beats a well matched combo. A lot get lost in the sauce when it comes to drag builds. Engine dyno sheets with big numbers can sometimes fail to actually accelerate a car down a track which is kind of the actual goal.

All I have to say is that my PRC 285s need new guides for all the intake valves after 6000 miles with a 0.650" lift cam

I am seeing THAT a LOT people are messenging me THAT, but whats worse is when I find those threads TSP is NOT standing behind him EVER that I've seen, with some ridiculous reasoning why they won't. PRELOAD? seriously? Not the ramp rates were to aggressive ( well then define lobes or even cams they make which aren't, they won't do that because then they would have to stand behind it if they fail ), geometry ( not preload Come on fellas almost everyone runs 2116-2126 thru ST2126SLR we all know preload HAS to be close within 025 on more forgiving lifters and +/- .008 on mine, what are they gonna say when it wears out on mine with leveled stems and dead on preload), upgraded trunion stock rockers?? Well then clearly define a lift and ramp rates that's max for your heads before your to use their roller tips......they offered to send a dude valve guides, just send him the guides? Seriously Jesus that was offensive to ME, maybe it's just me but that's more offensive than saying nothing we could do about it....when mast screwed me over I drove their **** back to em from a state away.....

That said they were only SLIGHTLY behind the Brodix 273s and Mast heads on that test, so its a damn shame they wont stand behijd their heads or offer CLEAR guidelines to a combination to buy ( even if from them aka their supplied springs with a list of their cams and when to force you to roller tips with which they WILL stand behind it, they could even offer the pushrods the only variable would be your deck height which is what going to be the same to max of .020; but they won't do that as it WOULD make the liable when the heads fail anyway )...

I'm a bit stirred up this morning, im seeing failure after failure....and it looks like im fixing to spend more money than a procharger as i scrape it together and still have no piece of mind....lol....don't mind me Santa is worn out...

I wish I could just buy the Summit offered Complete trick flows with lifetime warranty ( i guess they had to offer that to sell them when their heads started cracking in half I don't know ) and take .020 off em and hope they honor the warranty without measuring the deck plus no one but Mamo seems to want to bump that SSR and open the throat a bit to hand blend into the chamber aka biggest gains over as delivered its 2800 as it bump compression with 020 off, OR 5500 ( plus forced shafts ) for a complete do up of them which then doesn't touch BR7 ( and everyone's variants which are plentiful), Frankenstein either casting, or CID of the same price range....
in short in my obsession over Christmas I've come up with there are 100 options but really just 3 when boiled down...stock ( fails at 6k-16k used like we use em ), cheap aftermarket your prc and trick flows ( which fail same mileage ranges like we use em ), and the ole 5500 BR7, FS, and CID which don't seem to have as many issues and when they do more easily fixed ( although Frankenstein very publicly said they won't fix their heads anymore so I assume the skilled labor that was doing that for them cost to much and that probably old man was let go or he retired)....so really just one and they don't add a value over a LS3 head vs Procharger lol...

aka no good choices really

So much good information here, and many have reached out to help someone please just touch the cheap summit trick flows ( if they are selling for 2800 assembled they must cost a good bit less in reality ) up a bit and take .020 off em so when they fail I don't have to be as upset as when a 5500 head combo also fails lol...cause they ALL seem to fail

negativity aside, THIS place has the experience to help me be further out that number line before I have issues if I listen, I'm aware, respect and appreciate that...for example I thought it was a forgone conclusion anything other than a stock rocker cost power and rpm range ( while requiring more spring) from LS3 world, but LS7 world the roller tip TSP with proper swipe seem to add power and certainly less side loading so net positive on LS7....I have already learned something

hope everyone had a good Christmas 🎄!!!!

I would slap on some LS3s and the procharger now if the plan down the line is a blower anyways. Will make plenty of power regardless and if you're searching for more power down the line you can always upgrade the heads etc. Honestly with I went this route on mine instead of buying expensive heads now lol.

My engine is out of the car right now because of Ti rod failure, I'm planning on getting some heads from Ironmask but I'm not sure I'll be able to get them before next season starts here in Michigan. So for the time being, I'm getting new guides put in the PRC 285s and I have a set of TSP roller tip rockers to run with them, that hopefully will help with guide wear.
