Default So what's the deal with the LS7?!

Anyone heard anything new about the LS7? Whether it will have the 3 Valve heads, and if those heads will be able to bolt onto my LS1?

If there was any new news it would have been posted for sure. Right now, the word is that there will not be 3-valve heads on the new Z...well, that's what I heard last anyways.

2 valve (C5-R derived ports), flowing 370ish cfm -at what lift i don't know. No they won't fit onto GenIII LS1 blocks

I thought the heads would fit the LS1 block but, the LS7 intake would also be needed.

I just hope GM holds true to the rumors of a crate engine based on the LS7.

Some of the latest rumors are 7.0L using a variation on the C5R head design, but I heard they would fit existing LSx series blocks. New intake manifold, freer flowing exhaust(not sure if it was specifically the exhaust manifolds or the entire system). Titanium rods where mentioned along with a fairly aggressive cam( I doubt it, though, as a 7.0L using better flow should make 500fwhp very easily, the tuners get 550rwhp out of various packages all ready).

The only thing I can think of that might prevent the LS7 heads from fitting on a GenIII block is the size of the valves... the 3.9" bore (hell, maybe even a 4" bore) may be too small for the valves to clear the cylinder walls.
