It still remains to be seen whether or not this will actually work in real life. The LS1/6 sensors and PCM A to D circuitry is specifically tuned to the particular LS1/6 sensor location. EE folks here knowing the properties of low pass filters know what I mean.
By the end of this week we will know for sure. I plan to intentionally induce some engine knock under part throttle load and see if the sensors pick it up. More of a concern is the possibility of false knock signals induced by the new location of the sensors. I will let everyone know my results.

I will be happy with 1 if it will work and I expect it will.

The LS1/LS6 knock sensors worked for us on the engine we had on our dyno. We used a motor mount hole but realy you can use any hole that will work. All you have to do is adjust sensitivity. John, the Calibration Manager came down to help us tune. He told us that you can put them in the back of the head if you want to, as long as they are adjusted correctly. We used the Dynotech F body headers, and we had just enough room.
Also wanted to tell another little secret that we learned. When you extend your map sensor harness you need to flip the out side wires. The are 3 wires that go to your cam sensor. The one on the left needs to go on right, and the right one needs to go on the left. This will make it reed correctly, and it is very simple to do.

On my FBody install, both LS1 knock sensors went in the passenger side of the block. No interference with the header there and ez to extend the harness.
The cam sensor was also ez. Just extend it over the motor in the harness and to the cam sensor.
Motor is in. Still waiting on the fuel pump and a oil temp sender. But it should fire up tomorrow.

Chris do you have any pictures or could you or somebody tell me what wires go where. I cut and seperated them from the plug and I'm not sure about what color goes where?
There are 3 wires and the plug is marked ABC?

I read that and did it when I extended my cam sensor harness. It is working perfectly (well, at least not setting codes).
