Default Why is the LS2 part number so secretive?

I work for a GM dealer and was trying to price out a LS2 block and it comes back as a non serviceable item. How is everybody (vender's) getting these? I've tried the various numbers throughout this forum and the computer shows nothing. Does anybody have the real part number for the LS2 block?

All the numbers i have found on this forum have come up with nothing. I'm trying to buy it from my dealer as I can get it for 10% over cost with no shipping.

Search under my name, I posted it a few months ago.

It is the correct number, right from GM Powertrain.

I don't know why everyone is so quiet about it either...

What, the number on GM parts direct is incorrect?? They have it listed right there on the web site and have had it there for several months.

The number may not be in the system that you are using yet?
Just a guess. Try calling

Hello

I don't think it's secrective so much as GM has never really offered bare blocks throught the computer catalogs. In most cases, bare block part #'s are only in the GM Performance Parts catalogs.

My guess is it will be in the upcomming 2005 GMPP catalog.

Hope this helps!

I wanted to buy the whole short minus cam,oil pump and chain.I figured I could build a balanced stock motor with good rod bolts/main bolts and rings/bearings and have a nice 364CI for my car for about 3K.

It looks like its not worth it since SDPC is selling a 402 short for 3995.00....
