I would buy a viper, I have a Z06 now, but to have a car that turns heads more and a viper does that, sure the new z will to, but there is more Z06 going to be produced than there will be Vipers, for 75K I would be more apt to do just that, or find a luxury car. To each his own I guess

I'm just curious what you would rather have? A full-size luxury sedan?

From all the buzz at the dealerships I would guess....Base $63,400
And if that's the price, that a hell of a lot of car for the price......
Now what the dealers sell them for is another story.....$10-50K over sticker, and I hope they all get hit with the same thing that happened with the SSR’s and the ZR-1, and can’t sell a one!

I saw one of those the other day actually... for 90k it sure doesn't look like it!

just spoke to my uncle who works in the corvette plant. and word is that they are gonna try to stay as close to the same pricing as the earlier Z06's had. around the same if not a few thousand more than the convertables. so for around 55k to 60k. but the problem is that the dealers will proly do to them what they did to the ZR1's. auction them off for the highest bidder. although they are getting 427's. and the rear tires are the wider than anything my uncle has ever seen on a stock vette. I think it sucks that dealers would do somthing like that. and one other thing is they will be in short supply at least this first years run. not sure on the exact count but he said they are estimating 3000-5000 max... and that is just speculation from the engineers and other support managers.

Like stated earlier, I too, think they will keep the pricing reasonable. On the other hand, the getting the greedy dealers to let them go at invoice will be another issue all-together.

I think it should stay 2wd. Think of all the potential burnout videos gone to waste. lol. Its history has been a RWD car, the non flip-up headlights caused enough stirr, just think if went awd, you'd have the masses upset.

with regard to the headlights, the original vette and i believe the c2 had fixed headlights, so its a flip flop. i think they look pretty good.

Just buy a set of slicks for the track and try to lift the front wheels off the ground

Oh, and for what it's worth, even if you paid say, $45k for a used '04 Z06, getting the brakes up to '06 Z06 specs would cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $5k. So you're up to $50k; now build a dry-sumped 427 w/ titanium rods and what are essentially C5R heads... even if you use a sleeved block (instead of a C5R block), you're still looking at (at LEAST) $8k-$10k in parts, not to mention machine work. So now you're up to $58k. Add a clutch that can take the power from the 427, and there's another $1k. Add the differential/transmission cooler for $1k. Upgrade the suspension (I'll use the factory T1 suspension for comparison) and you're looking at another $2k or so. Add some aero bits to keep lift down at high speed for another $1k (for the kit and painting). $63k so far. Beef up the transmission for another $500, get a bigger radiator for another $500. Let's say that you get a deal on LS1 Edit and dyno time for $500. Up to $64.5k now, and that's assuming that you have done all the work yourself... and you STILL can't take it to the dealer if the engine develops a knock, or if there is any other problem with the powertrain. Also, depending on where you live, you could have a hell of a time getting it inspected.
Don't get me wrong, I love to modify my vehicles, but let's be honest... any time you start messing with something, the reliability almost ALWAYS goes down.
