Nah, between 12,900 and 15,900...I'm guessing. You can get the 572ci R version Chevrolet crate motor (720hp) for $13,995 right now. Titanium rods and dry sump aren't that much more.

Go HERE and post your guess.

I agree with your Z572 pricing, but a new all aluminum LS7 427 probably costs twice as much. For example, current LS6 427 from LPE and other shops will cost at least $20,000.

I like your theory on pricing. No, just for their shortblock, it is $12,995 and I'm sure LPE includes labor and assembly in their pricing. I think GM probably gets a little better pricing on their engine components, as well as, labor pricing than LPE.

All I know is that I feel sorry for whoever gets the engine that the reporter helped put together in that video. I bet those crank journals are gouged.

in regards to the driveline loss for awd: if you look at the subarus theyre actually a rwd car most of the time but when the rear wheels start slipping, that is when the awd kicks in. now, on a vette, what if they did the same thing? have the awd kick in when traction is the major concern and then revert back to rwd for top end pulls.
i dont know why some of you are so paranoid about how horrible it would be to have an awd corvette in existance . maybe you are the same guys who are shocked and dismayed by the removal of the flip up headlights.
change is good my friends. and if we have the technology for a better car why not use it?
oh and btw: GM owns subaru so im sure they could take the same t-case and beef it up to handle the power.

awd is added weight and the vettes best feature is its weight and its 7 litre of course.
I think porsche has a great awd design it only adds 300 pounds to the car which is pretty good. It might be the lightest awd drivetrain around.

Hahhaaa...the train off the track is definately reminiscent of this post.

I don't think GM has EVER made an AWD car...unless you consider the Sy/Ty a car.

PS. it would be nice to see the new car with coil springs all round. could help with the handeling!

GM branded - Chevy, Buick, etc. Not owned by GM.

I like AWD, anytime there is room for options on a car, it should be chosen.
