Default Where is the LS7 MAF?

Guys,

I haven't set up any sort of web site to host pictures, but if you remember the GM series of pictures that came out just a while back, you may remember a LS7 shot of it in the car. There is not MAF as we are accustomed to in the intake tract. Does anyone have the information on this? I can't see GM returning to speed density systems with tighter emissions controls...

See the little nub sticking out of the air duct, on the same side and just forward of the power steering resovior. That's the airmeter element.

So no MAF as we're used to huh? Just the elements that plug in to a "bung"?

An air meter is simply a hot wire element and associated bridge circuit placed in a sample tube. You're just use to the sample tube being part of the MAF itself, now the sample tube is part of the induction system.

That's what I said, just not technical enough for you I guess.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know that? I would have thought that was the intake air sensor and that the MAF was in front of the radiator just like on the C5's.

Not trying to argue. I agree Harlan knows his stuff, just wondering where everyone is getting there info.

Good question on the PCM.

Thank you!!! Great info and I would not have guessed. GM now has a way to incorporate as big an air inlet path as they need! Good thing, too, as I bet the LS7 power ratings raise over the next few years!

I wonder if this could be made to work on the C5?
If it will wire up, I suppose it could be recalibrated to any size duct. This would be great.
Also....Is the IAT integraded into it or maybe in the intake now (where it should have been all along)

This post is ~9 months old. Anyone know a part # on the LS7 MAF, or know if it can be used in a older car (99 C5 in my case), with the proper tuning?
