Both the motors are rated at 400hp and the GTO is lighter than why isnt the GTO running as quick? Both vehicles have IRS also. wut the *** is going on? Heavier car with a smaller motor and the same horsepower runs faster than the GTO??? I never liked the GTO when it came out and im beggining to really HATE it now. It looks like a Grand(ma) Am if you ask me.

WHERES THE GTO'S HORSEPOWER????????????
I think you've been reading too many magazine articles.

The GTO and CTS-V weight about the same; however the CTS-V has 3:73 gears, the GTO has 3:46 gears.

Line up a CTS-V with a GTO on the street or track...I think you'll see somthing different than what the magazines publish. Remember where those rags get their $$$ from.

Did anyone ever publish the '00-'02 Z28 was faster than the '00-'02 Corvette? The Z28 was geared better and got off a corner better on a track...and was faster in the quarter mile...GM won't tell you that. I've proven it with GM owned vehicles at a GM test track.

Same goes for the GTO vs. CTS-V.

The CTSV as listed weighs 3850lbs and the GTO as listed 3750 on the manufacturer's websites. So the CTS is not well over 4k lbs in fact the two are very similar in weight so i guess it comes down to the gearing and the driver.

The LS6 also has a bit more top end power than the LS2 but the LS2 has apeloads of grunt down low.

yeah ur right about that. 3,800lb's for the caddy and i guess the gearing makes up for that wait. Anyway u say it, i would honestly bet on the CTS-V in a race. Im sorry but for some reason, i have more faith in the LS6 as far as being STOCK, compared to the LS2.

Like I said above, the LS6 has a bit more top end so it pulls a little harder higher in the power band. I suspect with a little tweaking that could be 'cured' in the LS2 as well. They no doubt didnt want the new base motor to over-perform the previous gen's best motor.

Let's just say 01 Fbodies were running a bit too quick for GM's liking and were detuned a tad via the PCM in 2002.

HRJ those are awesome numbers for a stock 05 Goat. Get some more miles on that beast and redyno, should be a few more HP/TQ in there once you get a few thousand on it.

I will have to look at that later. Regardless, physically they are the same, so there should be no problem getting that power back with a tune. Some stock LS vehicles are so de-tuned from the factory it is sick. Oh well...gives me something to play with I guess.

Wow...they did retard the heck out of WOT timing on 02s. Weak.

Thanks. It was built on a Wednesday, so I guess the old saying is true! My goal is 100 more HP at the wheel..........well, that's my goal for now.
