LS7 crate engines
Okay, who wants to put one of these badboys in their f-body?
It's got me second guessing my plans for heads and cam.
Anyone know how much of a direct drop in these things are going to be?
And will your LS1 long tube headers bolt up or are you going to need custom headers?
And what about smog legality? Would it be "technically" illegal to replace your LS1 with an LS7?

That's assuming that you can get your hands on one. Looks like gm is handbuilding and blueprinting every motor so it will probably not be a one stop shop. Maybe only way is to find a block pulled under warranty.

I read Ford sells the GT crate motor (aka handbuilt 550 horse motor with a blower from their "supercar") somewhere in the $30-$40000 ball park. Let's hope GM does not follow the same pricing model!

GM would be wise to get this motor out to the aftermarket. It promotes their tech and grunt. They need the promo in the Gen Xers and GenYers - to keep them away from the Ricers . At least until the F Bod returns!

I just wonder if the crate engine version will come with the Ti rods. Those things are like $4K-$5K+ by themselves in the aftermarket world. It would be nice if GM made this in a crate version if they just used some nice steel rods. That would save a ton of money right there.
Heck, all I want is the block and heads. They can keep all the rest of the parts.

someone said they are hand built...along with the fact they are Ti rods...i highly doubt it will be 15g its not a sbc thats been being made for 50+ years....i honestly predict 25g if you can EVEN get one...i doubt they will sell em to just anyone for a few while...like with the ls6 heads and such back in the day, when they had to be sent back to gm if they were ripped off a car in the shop.
