Default c6 clutch questions?

What clutch does the c6 come with? I assume its the popular z06 clutch thats been used since 2001. With the release of the ls7 powered c6 z06, will we see a new z06 clutch? Do you guys think it will be compatible with existing lsx engines? I assume that it wil have to be pretty stout to hold the ls7's power and torque while meeting uncompromising drivability standards. If they sell this clutch at as reasonable a price as they did with the existing z06 clytch it may be just what the doctor ordered for a lot of us. I have to start thinking about a new clutch soon as my car is racking up the miles and I dont want to be taken by surprise when it finally goes. Im wondering if the new c6 z06 clutch would be a nice alternative to a spec or ram.

Thanks for any info,
-T

The C6 clutch is a very nice piece! I am trying to find the claming load on it for you, but it works very well. From what we have seen it should wrk well up to 550 - 600 flywheel hp. Keep in mind with slicks it will cause it to go away as time goes on. When I get the clamp load I will try to get it posted up.

Oh yea..... Just FYI, it will work with an LS1/LS6!!!

Sounds great Kris. With my mods, current and planned, I am teetering right on the edge of being able to replace my stock z06 clutch with the same. I assume that the c6 clutch now is indeed a step up. Can you PM me with a price for the c6 clutch and list what it includes and what will be needed to mate this to an 02 f-body? I may not be buying quite yet as my stocker is still holding, but id like to be informed ahead of time on my options.

Thanks!
-Tony

I'm not sure about the strength of the LS2 clutch, but I can tell you that after driving one, I'd take the Z06 clutch over that thing any day. The LS2 clutch has absolutely no feel, it's like the pedal is connected to a rubber band or something, nothing like a good firm clutch. They lightened the effort so much that it has no feel. It's the only thing that I don't like about the C6.

I have a 2002 f-body that came with the z06 clutch, and i think its a fine clutch although it could stand to grip a bit harder and hold a little more power. I dont notice any sticking problems. Perhaps its a problem in the c5's only and not in the actual clutch? Perhaps the c6 clutch would perform proportionally well in an f-body.
