Default how much to build an LS2?

I'm curious to know what it would cost me to build an LS2 from a bare block.

Can someone give me some prices??? or would it just be cheapier to buy a new one from GM??

I've never built a block and I really think it would be an amazing learning experiance if it can be done cheap.. of course I plan to use some better aftermarket parts...

Considering this... Help me with some prices from the bareblock all the way valve covers.

I'm either going to do this or turbo my LT1...

Get the factory short block. If you want the experience, tear it down and put it back together.

not exactly what I was tihnking...I'm thinking it would be cheaper to buy the bare block and build it than to buy a fully assembled one.

We're approaching the $10k mark on our build. Thats a 6L block, bare 317 heads, Crane cam, lifters, springs, pushrods, rockers, and double roller timing set, Ferrea valves, Diamond pistons, Manley rods, FAST 90mm intake, Corvette 90mm tb, and sending the pistons and bearings to Calico to have them coated. and various odds and ends that I might have forgot.......

10k?? but you can buy a new one for 5200 w/ out harness. It looks like you are using some much higher grade parts.. if you were using Gm or = what is your esiated cost?

Theres not a whole lot of GM stuff we're using. The block, crank, heads, and oil pump are the only things we're using that come on the production motors. The reason why we are building this motor is the original one wasted the #7 slug after we threw 14psi from the Procharger at it. we'll be throwing up pix soon for all to enjoy

lol yeah I think thats the consensus......these things are a lil pricey to just get a learning experience from. And since its your first one it may be a bad experience...you definately don't want that. If you wanna build something start with a jr dragster motor or a saturday night races Pinto motor. You'll learn alot and it won't be too expensive.

lol, i'm confident I can can build it an all will be well but i figured it could be done cheaper by buying all after market parts but i seem to stand corrected.

This might be a good way for you to go. We have in stock from GM, the production complete LS2 motor. It comes with intake, tb, plug wires, coil packs, water pump, balancer, and exhaust manafolds. Basicly pull your motor & this one is ready to go in. $5,495.00 is what you will pay at SDPC + freight. For the guy that doesn't need a forged bottom end, this is the way to go.

If you would like a stock ci forged short block, we should be able to build you one for about $3,500.00. It would consist of an stock GM crank, Callies H beam rods, Diamond pistons, and file fit rings.

Let me know if I can help with anything!!!
