Default LS6 top half for LS2 short blocks?

From reading all the posts here on the LS2 engines, I'm assuming all the old stuff from the tops of our LS1/LS6 motors bolts right up.

Can I use old LS6 heads, cam, intake, injectors, fuel rails, rockers, push rods, lifters, plastic lifter holders, etc on a LS2 short block?

Does the increased displacement of the LS2 motor max out these parts which were designed for 350CI displacement engines?

As of yesterday, SDPC has sold 51 LS2 short blocks. I'm assuming most buyers are eliminating the knock sensor tests with LS1Edit or similar software programs.

Thanks

Rigth all the stuff bolts right on with little or no modification. The heads that come on the LS-2's are the ls-6 heads to begin with...the difference is the ls-2's have the 90mm intake and tb. The ls-6 intake will still make more power then the stock ls-2 intake on the ls-2 though. So in other words you would have a nice setup with the ls-6 stuff on top.

Can you change the LS2 valley cover to an LS1/6 cover to put the knock sensors in the same place?

The valley cover question is good.

I read that SDPC short blocks include all the stuff needed to install them in older cars and that these parts included 1) LS2 valley cover, 2) front cam sensor, 3) front timing cover, 4) timing set with front cam sensor room, 5) oil pump.

If SDPC includes these items I assume these specific old items do not work on the new block.

No on the Valley cover you have to use the LS2 valley cover, the knock senors HAVE to be moved to the side of the block.....Do Not Run with out the Knock Senors, the cps has to be cut and rewired to the front cover, and that should do it for ya, we have install a few at the shop.

here's a crazy idea.

Would it be possible to cut out the LS1 knock sensor holders from the LS1 valley cover and have them welded into the LS2 cover after drilling the holes for them?

If you have the right tools anything is possible. The LS2 has provisions for displacement on demand I think and I don't know if that stuff would be in the way.
