Default LS7 Crate Engine Price

Don't know if someone posted this yet, but my service manager here at the dealer I work with got n email from GM releasing the price on the LS7. It is $16,995 MSRP. They are also going be limited availability. Here is what the email said

GM Performanc Parts is excited to announce initial availability of the all new LS7 crate engine assembly. GM performance parts has developed a distribution plan that will ensure product availability to its top performing authorized centers and select chevrolet corvette dealers.
-LS7 crate engines will be available for purchase by GM performance parts authorized centers ans select corvette dealers.
-The top 10 2004 revenue producing GM performance parts authorized centers will be authorized to order up to 4 LS7 crate engines.
-The top 25 corvette dealers of 2004 will be authorized to order 1 LS7 crate engine each.
-Additional LS7 crate engines will be distributed to the remaining GM performance parts authorized centers with a minimum of $100,000 performancce parts revenue based on 2004 performance. Each of these centers will be authorized to order 1 LS7 crate engine.

Just thought I would share the info.

This sounds like only 100 or so LS7 crate engines will initially be made available. If so, demand will undoubtedly exceed supply. Does anyone have any information about whether GM intends to sell additional LS7 crate engines later?

With the demand for the z06 going to be very high for a couple of years I do not think there will be many extra ls7s for sale. I think the blocks and heads will be the way to go for those of us wanting a poor mans ls7...besides being much less expensive the aftermarket ones will have forged pistons and bigger cams.

My dad has an 04 ZO6 with an unmodified LS6 (SWEET CAR/MOTOR), and now this new motor and vette....holy bajebus *drools*. I wish I could afford one! Even if I could I have to agree with everyone here, the supply will surely not meet the demand, if they only make 100 of them at first. If I had no budget, I would drop an LS7 in my 95 Hawk before I even thought of buying a new car. I love my car and my LT1 is...cool, err....but that LS7 is just sick, some even say it was created by the devil...lol, I'm done dreaming and being stupid!

The availability of getting these engines is going to be the real headache for those of you wanting to purchase one. Not only is it $12,595.00 but those GMPP Dealers who have sold over $100K will even get a chance at getting "one". Should be interesting.
