I discussed the gap problem with the other builders and we all agree that the only way that could happen is if he installed the clutch plate backwards. The plate is marked "flywheel side". Have him check that. Other than that, it is supposed to fit."
Didnt this guy say that there was no compatibility at all between the ls7 clutch and ls1 engine? How much can we believe if he keeps changing his story?

The clutch was not mounted backwards, the ls7 clutch and PP will only bolt up to the ls2/ls7 flywheel. I will post pics when I get back from work.

Where did he change his story? He is still saying there should be no compatability issues... However, I tend to believe MAS280 as he has actual parts in front of him. I think Bearman is only working on LS7s.

I could have sworn i read a quoted text from him saying that it was not compatible, but now I cant find where he said that. If Im incorrect, I apologize. Id love to see it fit the ls1 flywheel, but I dont think it would be a bad idea to buy a new ls7 flywheel anyway. Might make more sense than shaving it down.

I would prefer it fitted the LS1 flywheel but my second just as good option would be to buy a SPEC LS2 billet steel flywheel for ~$230 (only $55 more than a stock GM cast flywheel)

The LS7Power.com guy (i think nosjohn) posted a quote from bearman saying that it would not fit. You are not wrong here, why did he change his story??

SPEC doesnt have a C6 flywheel. We have tried 3 C5 clutches in our project C6 and none of them have worked. I will post the pics of everything wed.

Here are some pics, everything bolted right up to my motor. The engagement point on the ls7 is 1/16" closer to the motor, but it will work just fine.

So is this incorrect?: http://www.lmperformance.com/5732/74.html

Anyway, I am sure it is only a matter of time before LS2 flywheels are released onto the market. I do know for a fact that Fidanza has an Aluminum flywheel for $400 that will work with this clutch:

Great pics and thanks for taking the time to get them posted MAS280. Like someone else posted, let us know how it drives. Here is the rundown:

- LS1 motor
- LS2 flywheel
- LS7 clutch and PP

So, is it concluded that this is the combination that will work?

It fits, but the last order of business is to see how it holds up vs. the Z06 clutch and how it feels under normal driving.

I'm glad GM finally decided to upgrade the POS clutch disc

I've had two of them spin the center hub free because of the weak joints, leaving me stranded

And my car is basically stock!!
