Let me first say I do NOT have a service manual for the LS7... yet.

I am involved with an LS7 C5 retro with a TT kit... so our motor came apart for the same reasons... and new pistons.

What I can gather as far as info to use in leiu of the official GM specs is this...

The LS7 head bolts are the same as the LS1/6/2 (after mid 2004)... if you are using new GM bolts use those torque/degree to yield specs. Main bolts... use LS2 specs. Ti rod bolts? Get ahold of Eagle and ask what they recommend... after all they made the rods for GM. See if they will cough the info or cry OEM agreement to not divulge. Thats what I plan on doing. If not our project could be on hold until SOLID info is available on the rod bolt specs. All the rest of the peripheral torque specs use an LS2 service manual...

I don't think it was in GM's priority path to support freaks like us that disassemble brand new $14k crate motors... especially motors with technology that is not supported by prior platforms.

Has anyone determined when the LS7 manuals will be available? I would think real soon...

Bill

So we've got some people putting these in C5s - has ANYONE put one of these in an F-body yet?

What are the numbers on these LS7 motors? How do they compare to the 408?
