Default New LS2 C5R Type Mini Heads

About sixty days ago I mentioned that GM was going to produce a mini C5R type head.

They have been announced. Expect pricing to be very aggressive.

LS2 only
15 Degree valve angle
1.7 Rockers
2.16 Titanium intake valve
1.59 Sodium filled exhaust valve
350 cfm at .600
280 cfm at .400

Yes it sounds like the L92 heads.

The flow numbers came straight from GM High Tech and those are "modified" L92 head flow numbers. Still impressive though.

If the heads are priced right they might make a strong argument for moving to the LS2 platform.

Actually someone else mentioned that GM would be producing the L92 heads (what you're calling the "mini C5R type heads") over 60 days ago, but thanks for confirming what was posted at the begining of Nov. by others.

I don't see a reason why this head can only be used on an LS2, with the proper intake the heads should be compatable with other lSx platforms assuming the bore is large enough. Actually, I don't think these heads will work with a LS2 intake. If you know otherwise, please prove your intial statement that they are "LS2 only".

BTW, your flow numbers are also false for the production heads. The numbers you posted are for a set of ported heads. Look for as cast numbers around 310-315 cfm @ .600". I've heard the price should be under $300 per head (bare).

sweet! how extensive was the porting inorder to achive 350 cfm?

so will it use an ls2 style manifold or an ls7 type?
will they use standard ls1 rockers or will i need ls7 rockers?
will valve relifes be needed, or be an issue?

Wet,

I am not here often enough to read every post, but I can guarrantee you all my sources are from the top and I knew about this in mid-October. I briefly mentioned it on one of the other forums and not here. I was waiting for the GM press release.

They cannot be used on a LS1 stock 99mm bore. The valves are too large.

You are corect that those are "modified," numbers. I have no idea as to how much they have been "worked." Even a worked head, with all the OEM pieces is going to be great price, like I mentioned. I know a lot guys are just happy to be able to buy some great heads that they can afford.

Questions will be asked and the information will come out. Waiting game now. Makes for some good forum conversation.

As for manifold, anyone's guess... Bill Reid and few others have been watching this.

Brent

I can't see GM letting us down on this one... only a matter of time before the intake rolls out (and perhaps Wilson will take a crack at it - I speculate). Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the current LS2 intake out before the C6? Plus this gives the CNC houses time to perfect their programs...

Its all good...

Bill,

I can personally assure you from the GM Board of Directors on down to middle management, that you will see a gigantic change in the way things are done at this company now and in the near future.

We about to see some great American automotive product that we can all be very proud of.

May god bless us all today,

Brent

Z,
Don't get to excited, he has absolutely no affiliation with GM. He just had the opportunity to met Dave Hill last year at a fund raiser... On the plus side, it is public knowledge that GM is completely reorganizing from the top down so hopefully they can start to turn things around. Based on recent releases, things are starting to look up. Let's hope so.

Bill,
You are correct, the LS2 intake was out before the C6. BUT, the Z06 is on the streets and still no LS7 intakes available yet to the best of my knowledge. They'll no doubt have an L92 intake out soon.

Ot; Correct, I have no personal affiliation with GM at this time is correct, besides personally knowing about dozen or so people. However, I would have to probably claim that we (myself and family) do have an indirect position in the company under various forms of ownership of shares, in funds and/or an ongoing various banking relationships. One my family members funds tens of billions of dollars of secured notes, annually for an F500, another member is one founder of an F100, that issues considerable paper as well.

I occasionally obtain information...I am extremely careful that I wait until it gets desiminated thru the proper channels.

There are a lot people that want to see this company do very well for the shareholders, bond holders, employee's and pension. With that, I done with this topic. I think it has been redirected enough.

Back on topic

Wet, No LS7 intakes available either as far as I know..
