Default L-92 Head Compatible Intake Manifold Interest

I posted a few days ago that I was working on this. I guess if the cat is out of the bag, I should at least make sure there’s demand for product before I continue with design and production.

I’m working on an intake that would be compatible with the square runners on the L-92 heads. The benefit to this is that it will fit under car hoods, unlike the truck intake that was originally conceived for these fine heads. This would allow the use of the fine L-92 heads on anything with a 4” bore or larger. These heads are basically a slightly smaller version of the LS7 and are significantly less pricey from what we’ve been able to determine.

Pricing isn’t anywhere close to finalized and anything I tell you right now would be nothing better than a guess. These are budget heads, so I’m going to discontinue the project if it can’t be done in a way to keep it affordable.

It will be compatible with normal cable drawn throttle bodies, so an adapter wouldn’t be required like with the LS7.

So far the preliminary results have shown these heads to peak above 310cfm stock. Some of the head porters are reportedly working on them to get some improvements. That’s not my realm, but I’ll be excited to hear their results.

I’m making this post to see if there is interest for this product. Is there? Should I continue? Convince me.

I realize results will sell the product, so they are priority. The budget nature of these heads should help to accelerate the process.

Yes, yes, and HELL YES! These heads have been reportedly flowing 350 cfm fully ported at .600" lift from one budget head porter on the boards. These will definitely be the hot ticket for the l-92 heads which should be big in a lot of ways.

Im already buying a set of the l-92 heads to hand finish when available. Hook us up man, composite intakes shouldn't cost 800 bucks a pop.

I am waiting for the block but as soon as that is available, am off and running with full stroked L92. If the manifold is ready, I am game. For now the only thing between L92 being the "favorite" LSX head is the manifold void.

yes, that's the only reason I haven't bought the heads yet. If a mani can be had at a price to keep it a "budget" project. I'd be down for sure. If it's gonna put me anywhere near the $$$ of a fast/fast setup, forget it.

If that option were available, I would definately give it a lot of consideration. Go for it. It will sell. But only if you do it before someone else does.

Damn straight. Im a frugal ******! These heads with a small runner ported (230 cc's) should be able to put a stock cube l-92 at 5XX+ rwhp.

The L76 as I find it is a truck motor wnich would mean the intake is too tall for underhood F and Ybody?

I am also very interested. My goal of 550 reliable rwhp could probably be obtained in this manner without having to risk my stock bottom end going the forced induction route.

These heads are a budget option in my eyes as well, on the 6.2 block when it is available... so if you can get an intake that will keep up with the heads at their 350 cfm plus capability, go for it. But, I'd try to do a single plane style of some sort if possible, to prevent the issues of the back cylinders getting more air. Just a thought.

Somebody said Oz has the L76 slated for a car as well (lucky f**kers), and as such will have a car-type manifold available (although it might not be the best design for performance...who knows?)....

Do you know for a fact that the L92 heads intake runners are that size?

I would buy your intake if it was in the sub $400 price range. Also if it flowed better than a fast intake when compared to it on the l92 heads.

to sell (IMO) theres 2 things you have to keep in check...

price.. because this is for "budget" head guys..

and quality of course... because if it sucks, noone here will buy it once the word gets out.

btw, for me, a 3rd thing it would need would be to use the stock "O-ring" type seals... not a gasket.

just my opinion.. i was thinking about this subject this mornign matter of fact... its $$$ for a one time run of the intake to head plates on a CNC for the gaskets.. even if i do the dxf file myself... heh.

i WANT thoes heads.. i feel they're the future of the genIII/genIV development... ive been talking about them for months now...
but the intake manifold is holding us back.
