If I was going to waste money on something like that I'ld by one of those Carbon Composite G Machines from Florida and drop a LS7 into that...
I'm sure they would make a convertible version, for enough money.

If it is Leno's
He probably had one of the G machines fitted also.
Must be nice.

I'm pretty sure that the car in HOT ROD isn't a Mallet. A few months back they where talking about going in with GM to put a LS7 in a Solstice to create a modern day Shelby Cobra.

As RussStang said ... just buy a Z06. Not to mention after you put all that money and work into the solstice, it will only be worth like 25g's ... while the Z06 will be worth 85-90% of what you paid for it.
Cool idea, but lot's of cash.

I mean, you can make a civic f up a viper for far less than 70 g's ... and I'm sure that viper guy would be way more confused when a civic goes flying past him.

I like the idea of the LS7 solstice, I had even thought about the LS2 option in one of them. Then a friend brought me to Mallet's website where they have already been produced. I think that I would pick a z06 over it anyday though. Mainly b/c it will be worth more, probably have less problems and will be under warranty.

Actually I like the Idea of a cam'd L92 (with low profile manifold) in a Saturn Sky.
Give Me DOD, VVT and a Convertable that looks like a Caddy without the expensive price tag.
Heck Saturn could market it at 35K and they wouldn't be able to keep them on the lot's.

The thing that I like most about the Solstice (LS7 version) is that it can come into the foreign roadster market for GM and really kick the crap out of the competition. The one in the magazine runs a Caddy front accesory system, vette motor, and six speed from an SSR, and a Caddy rear end (I think), so it's really a GM "mutt" of sorts.

IM sure it wouldnt be hard to make a solstice handle like a ZO6. Hasn't anyone seen the 3rd gen rx7 ls1 cars. Those things handle like they are on a rail and weigh like 2800. You could get a 3rd gen rx7 with no power train in good shape for 7-10k and that would beat the other twoin pretty much every category

The z06 only has 100lbs more than the Solstice, wider tires, and a better weigh distribution than an LS7 Solstice will.
The idea is cool, but for that kind of dough I would just get a z06.

I think this is HOT RODS car. GMPD is helping though...that's why you see so many factory parts. Expensive, sure, but they'll get their ad dollars back from it after PT, Drag Week, Maxton, etc. Its a pretty cool build IMO (except for the body kit). I absolutly freakin love build-up with factory parts from other cars. The brakes are CTSV or STSV, same with the rear end/gears, Factory T56/C6Z06 clutch, LS7 w/ GM drysump stuff (corvette location too), its a custom harness w/ a LS2 PCM, CTSV accessories, etc. Love that stuff.

we're all hot rodding people here who like fast cars, and love the ls7.
i can't imagine why any of you would be against this.
this is just pure bad-***.
sure it's expensive and not practical, but who cares?
this project is the epitome of hot rodding,
