Default LS7 Solstice this month in HOT ROD

Just got this issue out of the mailbox when I was getting in the car to go to work (doesn't working Sat. night suck), they have a large article showing a swap to the LS7 in a Soltice. Thought some people on here might want to check this article out. They, as far as I got to read, weren't going to show any dyno results/times until June or July. I for one am anxious to see some times on this setup, if they can ever get it to hook.

I think that if a conversion kit for this is ever marketed, it should come with a mandatory life insurance policy.

WOW, I thought a supercharged LS2 would be nice in my Solstice, sounds like an LS7 might be the way to go... LOL. OVERKILL, did they mention the car was for Jay Leno?

Yeah, it definitely sounds Leno-esque. I'm pretty sure the article had all of the GM part #'s for the changeover listed too.

Page 3 of Mallet's pdf shows the LS7 package as $47,000 so... It has already been done (or atleast offered).

But for 45,995 they have the 600hp Supercharged LS2 package.

I do believe that is a little much (price wise) for a LS2 w/SC and custom 5 spoke wheels.

For that kind of cash I'd just put a little more with it and get the Z06.

I bet the c6 z06 would still be just as fast as the LS7 Solstice. How much does the new z06 weigh? In the ballpark of 3150lbs I believe. How much would an LS7 Solstice weigh? The Solstice isn't a particularly light car as far as 2 seater roadsters go, and I believe Mallett's LS2 Solstice weighs in at something like 3050lbs. The z06 only has 100lbs more than the Solstice, wider tires, and a better weigh distribution than an LS7 Solstice will.

The idea is cool, but for that kind of dough I would just get a z06.

.
Some ridiculous money to make a 20 thousand something dollar car go fast.

As RussStang said ... just buy a Z06. Not to mention after you put all that money and work into the solstice, it will only be worth like 25g's ... while the Z06 will be worth 85-90% of what you paid for it.

Cool idea, but lot's of cash.
