Introducing Katech's new crate engine packages
#41
I just looked at the prices agai although they are high they are not completely unreasonable hell I just built a 383 SBC all forged (eagle stuff) and it cost me $3500 for the short block total build on the engine is coming in at just under 10K. That is all stuff that you have 50 choices for every part. The LS1 stuff is going to be more exspensive. It's very exspensive to go fast.

This is a GM fastburn circle track engine built and sealed to ASA specifications. It is for the ASA late model series. http://www.asalatemodels.com
We are a licensed ASA late model series rebuilder. All internals are GM components, no changes are allowed.

Obviously a reputable company IF you've got unlimited TIME and MONEY!

David,
We are deeply sorry we let you down. We want to make all of our customers happy, but no person or company is perfect and sometimes we don't meet our own targets. Please don't take this as a "little guy offense." We value your business. We are a strong supporter of you and hope to see you racing soon.

Not a crank but I saw where an a Eagle rod let go.
I just don't see why someone would spend that kind of money on a block and not spend a little more and get good set of rods... The crank, to each his own... But not the rods?... No way! JMHO.

We can build them turn-key if you like and depending on harness/controller and accessories it could be around $20,000.

The first set of cases are back from vacuum impreg. and final bore is in process. Rods probably will be here sometime in June. Crankshafts are here and in the process of installing all the triggers.

I have removed some posts which were simply not constructive, and basically ammounted to sponsor bashing. If you don't like the contents of this thread, move on...
If you have a question, feel free to post it.
Jason, could you give an outline of these crate engines and what is or is not included so folks have an idea of what will be required to make the turn-key.

Everybody wants their own little spin on their engine. These crate engine packages serve as a basis for a custom build. Each engine is built to order and quoted as such. We do not have any engines on the shelf normally. There are just too many variables and we are too specialized to do that.

JASON,
What will your budget 427 be lacking to call it a "budget" shortblock? How will you be getting the 427ci...stroke and bore...what block and internal parts will be used? Price?
Have you gotten anywhere on my other request I might need to get that 427 shortblock now until the other set-up can be started and completed. I think my rings on my 436 are going, smoke is coming out the tailpipes when I punch it
Thanks.

Don't count on it right away. We should be getting rods sometime in June. Like World Product's problems with the Warhawk, it always takes longer than you think it will when dealing with outside sources. I will post as information becomes available.
Bore 4.125
Stroke 4.000
Nothing will be "lacking", it's we've just selected some good parts at a reasonable price.
