Default LS2 in a 98 F-body

Folks,

I just changed oil in the TA to find some metal flakes in the filter. Long story short I am thinking of a LS2 based engine (probably like a 402) in the car. I have a few questions to ask about:

1. Will a 98-harness work and what modifications will I have to make to connect to the new locations of the sensors?

2. Who makes a budget LS2 reliable long block? I want 500RWHP but I cannot afford to be rebuilding it again anytime in the next few years.

3. Accessories... Will the 98 Alt., A/C and Power steering all bolt up with out modifying?

4. Will tranny bolt up with out problems?

5. Any other info, write-ups, or websites is much appreciated.

Thanks for all of your help in advance.

Tom

Great info, is there any chance of a long block? I am also not a big fan of having to deal with sleeves moving? What kind of reliability and warranty will I be looking at? Thus is why I wanted to stay at the 402 range. I am looking to get the new heads to get away from my perimeter old castings.

Anyone else? Keep my options coming.

Tom

Like less than this? http://texas-speed.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=44 Is this a quality product? I haven't been keeping up on the LS2 stuff thinking my engine wouldn't spew at 57,000 miles.

katech, do you reccomend that the stock ls2 knock sensor positions retapped from m8 to m10 is the best spot for ls1 knock sensors, or do you think using any of the extra m10 positions on the blocks sides is acceptable?

thanks

The extra M10 positions are acceptable however it can be tight to the header. Retapping the M8 positions would be ideal.

Katech,

You mentioned having a harness for the 98. Will you still be able to use the stock 98 gage cluster? Will all the indicators ECT, Oil Pressure, Fuel, etc be functional without further modification other than your harness? Newer fuel tank?

all you have to do is extend your cam and knock sensor wires, provided you get an ls1 wheel put on the crank

What is the alternative if you don't get a Ls1 wheel on the crank?
