LS2 and boost
Anything change from the 2004 LS6?
Mark
and by the way ive seen stock block LS1's/stock internals go over 650rwhp one on nitrous(667rwhp) and one on boost(about 700rwhp he basically wanted to see it blow up but didnt on one pass at 14psi)..and they ARE still holding decently well...like they all say, its basically all depending on the TUNE/Fuel System...

The piston's are cast, the crank is powder metal, and rod's are suppose to be sinister steel (what ever that is).
The LS2 Manifold by default doesn't flow as well as a LS6 due to manufactoring process, but once cleaned up can outflow a LS6 manifold.
Boosting is something I've decided not to try on mine as the 10.9:1 compression ratio makes me very weary of adders. Some folks go ahead and add a Magie but only put 2 to 4lbs of boost on em (kind of a waste of money to me).
With the faster computer and 58 point wheel.... nah that couldn't help out.
Heck didn't the first 2 to 3 years of the LS1 have forged pistons. I know my 99 T/A came with a electric engine warmer to kill the startup knock....maybe that's what it was for... kinda wish the LS2 had an engine warmer in the winter time to get up to operational temp's sooner....
Even with all the goodies that come in the LS2... the aftermarket parts surpass them all.
Stock 243's can't flow like a patriot stage 2 243... and can't come close to a set of ETP's
Stock cam.... blah GM replaced it in the LS6 and so do alot of the LS2 GTO owners.
Exhaust... yeah dual 2 1/2's stock isn't bad but headers and an x pipe can liven it up even more... then throw on some high flow muff's... oh yeah
Intake... the GTO's stock isn't to bad but the intak into the air box is kinda restrictive. CAI's with built in heatshields help alot especially if the put the maf/ait behind the heatshield...
HPTuners, LS2Edit, or Pred to tweak.... the stock settings pull so much out to keep the driveline intact it's pathedic.
Okay so the cam isn't exactly the 01 LS6 cam... its missing the LS1/LS6 style timing sensor (LS2's timing sensor is in the Cam Gear).

I remember when I order my 02 T/A in July of 01 that the options I added on were...
Pewter Metalic Paint and Tan Leather Interior. I wanted the lighter Cammel but it was only offered on the White, Red, and Black Exterior.
1LE suspension (Aluminum Drive shaft, springs, struts, and poly bushings)
MN6 (Manual Transmission)
Traction Control (can't remember the op code)
WS6 (hood, tires-n-rims, and a slp cat back) - to be honest it wasn't worth $3400
The 1LE wasn't on the invoice when I picked the car up (nor on the price tag
), but when I took it to my local exhaust shop and put it up on the rack... there were the 1LE parts in plain view... I think I got lucky by ordering it before they removed the option. The engine warmer cut the warm up time down to around 3 minutes (from 6 to 8 minutes).... it just ment I could leave the parking lot at work sooner then my co-workers
Yeah I remember missing that on the 02 cause it took longer to warm up then the 99 t/a I traded in for the 02...but the heater would kickout heat at a reasonable time... it really needed heated seats in the winter though.
hmmm 10psi of boost and 10.9:1 cr - a diet of 93 octaine and some additive could get you to 100k before a rebuild, maybe?
