LS7 in a 2000-02 firebird? Hey, I dont know to much about these things but Im hoping someone could help me out. I want to know if it is at all possible? If so what needs to be done. worth the cost just to have something different? I was planning on picking up a used 2000-02 firebird for around or most likely less than 10 grand, and trying to swap the engine and whatever else that needs to go. But I dont know, what do you guys think?
I think for the money your are going to spend, Its better to just stroke your motor to 427 and be done with it..and spend the money somewhere else like a rear end and tranny..your going to need it.
The LS7 crate motor alone costs $14,000 just sitting there by itself. No computer, no supplies to set up the dry sump oiling system, and the exhaust from the manifolds back would have to be custom. Plus tons of misc issues and parts that will nickel and dime you to death if you even make it past the initial purchase.

yeah kinda figured, just thought it might be a nice little project, something that would keep me busy, I knew the cost of the ls7 alone was up there I saw it for about $13,700. but you know dreams right?
Much cheaper to look in the classified section here and buy a Z-28 for $8k or so, and get a used LS1 longblock for 2k, then buy a 4" stroke crank which drops into the LS1 block (with pistons/rods to match) and make yourself a nice 382 LS1. Download tons of photos of ported LS1 heads and buy yourself some grinding burrs/sanding rolls and take the 2 weeks after work and on weekends to make 'em good. Buy a used cam/new springs here...
That's a nice project, in the end you'll have a motor that bolts right in that you have only about 4.5k in that makes 460 rwhp. Of course the tranny will go and so on and so on.......
